Ryan Reynolds’ R-rated MCU debut for Deadpool could begin soon.
After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, including all the Fox-owned Marvel characters, there was both excitement and skepticism.
Fans knew that the X-Men and the Fantastic Four had a secure future in the MCU.
Beyond that, they were concerned about Deadpool.
At the time, they wondered if Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed merc would have a place in the MCU without having to be toned down from his usual R rating.
After all, the MCU’s content has been consistently PG-13.
Thankfully, though, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Ryan Reynolds confirmed several times themselves that Deadpool will remain R.
This is despite that the third Deadpool will be incorporated into the MCU.
No matter.
The film will still have the same R rating as the previous two movies.
With minds now at ease over Deadpool’s future, the only question remaining is when can we expect to see filming begin on the anti-hero’s next solo film?
Ryan Reynolds revealed that, while an exact start date is not confirmed yet, it’s highly likely that we’ll see the cameras rolling towards the end of next year.
In an interview with Collider while promoting his new movie, Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds was asked when he expects principal photography on Deadpool 3 to begin.
Ryan Reynolds’ Rated R MCU Debut For Deadpool To Film Soon
Ryan Reynolds admitted:
The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.
Moreover, Ryan Reynolds described what it was like working with the film’s new writers, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin.
They are both known for writing the hit animated series, Bob’s Burgers, which won the duo a Primetime Emmy award.
Ryan Reynolds showered them with praise.
He explained:
I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.
While it is safe to say it’s likely that filming will commence next year, it’s still not set in stone yet.
Either way production on Deadpool 3 looks to be moving along nicely.
Furthermore, we can definitely expect to see Ryan Reynolds back in his now iconic red and black suit in front of the camera again soon.
