Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson have finally revealed their costumes for the next season of Doctor Who. While Doctor Who’s appearance and personality changes with each regeneration, one thing that remains is their unique fashion sense.

Throughout the past 59 years, the Time Lord has worn several bizarre outfits during their travels through time and space. At times including a multi-colored scarf, a question mark sweater, a bow tie, converse shoes and even a celery stick. Nonetheless, each of these strange clothing choices have gone on to become iconic looks in pop culture.

Go to any sci-fi convention and you’re bound to see a fan in colorful Doctor Who cosplay. Earlier this year, the BBC announced that Ncuti Gatwa would portray the next incarnation of the sci-fi icon. Ncuti Gatwa became known for his role in Netflix’s coming of age comedy series, Sex Education. He portrays protagonist Otis Millburn’s (Asa Butterfield) openly gay best friend, Eric Effiong.

The character turned into an instant fan favorite thanks to Gatwa’s energetic and lovable performance. Furthermore, he has since become an internet meme across the U.K. after delivering this comedic line:

Wash your hands you detty pig!

Moreover, he’ll also appear in the upcoming Barbie movie alongside Hollywood royalty, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

In five years, the 30-year-old actor has become one of the most well-known stars in the world.

Since his unveiling as the Fifteenth Doctor, fans have been eagerly awaiting Gatwa’s costume reveal.  Like many of his predecessors, Gatwa gets to decide on what his Doctor’s look will be.

During a brief takeover of the Doctor Who social media accounts, we finally got our first glimpse the costume. In addition, we also got our first look at new companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) in her outfit. You can see that the Fifteenth Doctor has taken a liking to plaid looking at both his coat and trousers.

Both are tweed. Moreover, he’s also sporting a pair of brogue boots and a orange sweatshirt with two necklaces.

Gatwa also showed off that his Doctor has nail tattoos of ancient Gallifreyan symbols. A first for the character. As for Gibson, her outfit is a modern 21st century look. She wears black boots and leggings with a jean jacket with artificial fur collar and blue skirt.

In addition, she’s also seen sporting a white knitted jumper with a black, red and baby blue pattern.

Doctor Who will return to screens in November 2023 for the show’s 60th anniversary. Former Doctor David Tennant will star as the Fourteenth Doctor in three special episodes to celebrate this milestone. Afterwards, Tennant will hand over the Tardis key to Gatwa for an exciting new era for the long running show.
