Although Henry Cavill hasn’t closed the door on Superman, Marvel Studios has viewed him as a possible Captain Britain for years now. If DC Films does lock him out, the MCU could welcome him with open arms.
When Henry Cavill’s future as Superman seemed uncertain, there were discussions at Marvel Studios of having him as Captain Britain.
It didn’t go as far as negotiations, though.
Nevertheless, Marvel Studios keeps a running list of actors that could match specific roles.
Henry Cavill has been among them to play Captain Britain.
For those who haven’t seen it, Henry Cavill’s performance in 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. perfectly captured the actor’s magnetic charisma.
Honestly, there wasn’t much of that side on display in Zack Snyder’s moodier, darker Man of Steel.
U.N.C.L.E. is the reason why fans have longed for Cavill to be the next James Bond.
Marvel Is Wanting Henry Cavill To Play Captain Britain In The MCU
He has the suave personality of Roger Moore and the macho toughness of Sean Connery.
Captain Britain is a member of the British intelligence agency MI-13.
To put it simply, MI-13 could function as the U.K. version of S.W.O.R.D. in the MCU.
It would also give Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to play in a 007-like style; moreover, what better way to pull that off than to cast someone as Bond-esque as Henry Cavill for Captain Britain?
In October 2019, I scooped on the Pete’s Basement YouTube channel that the Superman actor is the front runner for Captain Britain.
That hasn’t changed.
In fact, he’s even more popular than ever because of Netflix’ The Witcher.
With J.J. Abrams rebooting Superman with a different actor, there were rumors of Henry Cavill losing the cape.
As I wrote, he isn’t gone.
However, should Henry Cavill want more than a supporting part for his Man of Steel, a different multiverse awaits him.
His final decision would leave fans shaken or stirred.
