Marvel Studios will bring its animated projects X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, and What If…? Season Two to the San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Marvel Studios is looking really busy for SDCC 2022. They have so much stuff to announce and discuss. They will need all three days to do their talks, presentations and more during the convention.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will be having his talk about the MCU. This is always among SDCC’s highlights. Thus, everyone is already excited and expecting his spot.

And likely because of that, Feige’s presentation will happen on the last day (Saturday, July 23) of the convention.

What’s interesting is they have also made a separate talk and presentation just for Marvel Studios Animation. The description is as follows:

Marvel Studios head of streaming, television and animation Brad Winderbaum; head of visual development Ryan Meinerding; and special guests dive into all things animation with exclusive looks at X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, What If…? season 2, and more.

As mentioned, the talk will feature several new animated Marvel shows under the newly developed Marvel Studios Animation. They have scheduled this on Friday, July 22, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Interestingly, this doesn’t include another Marvel animated series titled Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, which has its own scheduled talk on Thursday, July 21.

Fans X-Men: The Animated Series were excited to hear the announcement of X-Men ‘97 back in November 2021. The crowd went wild after they discovered it will continue the original show. The series was canceled back in September 1997. As a continuation, the program will even feature most of the surviving voice actors reprising their roles.

Without a doubt, an advance look at X-Men ’97 will ignite the audience.

Original showrunners Eric Lewald, Julia Lewald and original series director Larry Houston are consultants of X-Men ’97. Beau DeMayo, known to have written and produced for such projects like The Witcher and Moon Knight, will be the executive producer and writer. Jake Castorana is the supervising director of the show. And Charley Feldman is the supervising producer.

What If…? returns for another season with Jeffrey Wright returning as Uatu the Watcher. The series continues to show the effects of the multiverse with alternate lives of familiar characters.

Marvel Zombies is a spin-off from the What If…? series. We wonder if the series will continue based on the events of the fifth episode of What If…? In the episode, the show ended where the surviving Avengers, Peter Parker, Scott Lang and T’Challa, are on their way to Wakanda.

Not knowing that a zombie version of Thanos controls Wakanda with its residents transformed into zombies themselves. Director of What If…?, Bryan Andrews, returns to direct the spin-off.

Marvel Studios Animation has been unleashed. SDCC 2022 couldn’t come any sooner.
