For weeks, even months, communities in Marvel fandom have been talking about the introduction of horror in the MCU. It seems to be the next step Marvel Studios took after Avengers: Endgame.
A lot of fans root for the comeback of the Avengers even if it meant a change in its line-up. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige himself doused this flame with the announcement that Avengers: Endgame is the final Avengers movie.

However, the MCU has a horde of other superhero teams. This is most likely the reason why fans can consider Phase Four as the introduction to the next phases. The MCU opens the doors to the supernatural, horror and fantasy. Right now, some MCU fans are bewildered. However, the same cannot be said for fans who have also followed Marvel Comics.
Ultimately, Marvel Comics is the MCU’s resource. Anytime anybody asks what’s next? The comics provide a steady stream of input. Marvel Studios often tweaks characters and stories for the screen. Nevertheless, they stay faithful to their essence.
Not everything depends on Doctor Strange disintegrating the barrier of the multiverse. It’s huge and it will affect the entire MCU but the supernatural has always been in the MCU. However, it’s only now that Marvel Studios placed it under the spotlight. It has been in the shadows all this time and only in the current phase it’s being brought to light. Case in point is Moon Knight and even Eternals.

In that world, even before the multiverse gets in the quagmire, fantastical beings and remarkable stories are already happening.

Oddly enough, Man-Thing has deep roots with Marvel Studios and their president Kevin Feige. Feige was an executive producer on 2005’s Man-Thing.
People of that world are already aware of the reality of aliens. They have experienced the time when half the world’s population vanished and then came back. But the fact remains that things have to change.
The MCU will no longer keep horror in the dark. The presence of Blade and Doctor Voodoo are now ready. Director Sam Raimi dives into horror in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Man-Thing fits into this new MCU world.
