John Boyega Could Be Next Superman

John Boyega could make the leap from Star Wars to Superman; he is reportedly being eyed to be J.J. Abrams’ Man of Steel.

According to YouTube personality Syl Abdul, John Boyega is among the actors Warner Bros. is considering for Bad Robot’s Superman reboot.

Edward Lauder of Small Screen added that, “We were told a while back that John Boyega was in talks with Warner Bros. about a future project, and it seems as though this Superman film was that very same project.”

As I reported on February 26, Michael B. Jordan of Black Panther fame is also being eyed for the role.

Abrams will produce the new Superman movie; furthermore, Ta-Nehisi Coates will write the script.

J.J. Abrams has been rumored to take over the Superman cinematic franchise since his company, Bad Robot, signed a massive deal with WarnerMedia in 2019.

Obviously, this Superman will not be Clark Kent; instead, it is the Black Superman of Earth-23, Calvin Ellis.

Writer Grant Morrison and artist Doug Mahnke co-created Ellis in Final Crisis No. 7 in 2009.

He is essentially modeled after President Barack Obama.

The announcement of this film caused concerns among Henry Cavill fans that he’d be pushed out of the cape.

In a subsequent leak, I threw water on those fears.

This movie will exist in the multiverse framework of DC Films; in other words, Ellis is not replacing Kent.

Rather, DC Films will have two Supermans in the cinema. Considering they’ll have three Batmans onscreen in the near future – Robert Pattinson in The Batman, and Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck in The Flash – it’ll be the new normal.

If he signs, John Boyega will be reunited with his Star Wars director Abrams.

However, Abrams apparently is going to only produce the movie.

Of the two, Jordan definitely has the advantage.

Nevertheless, John Boyega recently won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor so his status continues to rise.

But if it goes up, up, and away remains to be seen.
