Jennifer Lawrence might not be done being a superhero as Marvel Studios is interested in her. Jennifer Lawrence played Mystique in four of Fox’s X-Men movies. Beginning with 2011’s X-Men: First Class, she left an indelible mark on the mutant franchise.
With Marvel Studios regaining the X-Men film rights, some actors will return to play their original roles while others won’t.
However, there is no interest in having Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique for the MCU.
The feeling is probably mutual.
Jennifer Lawrence was barely in 2019’s Dark Phoenix and Mystique was quickly killed off. She looked tired of the role. The Oscar-winning actress delivered an uncharacteristically blah performance.
Marvel Studios Wants Jennifer Lawrence For Future Role
You can tell she wanted to bolt for the exits. She was outstanding in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Dark Phoenix looked like a completely different person, a pale shadow.
So while she most likely won’t be Mystique again, there are a number of MCU heroes she could play.
Insiders suggested that she could be offered a spot in the rebooted Inhumans, perhaps Medusa or Crystal.
Jennifer Lawrence would certainly give a commercial boost and much-needed gravitas to an IP that was DOA on ABC-TV.
If Emily Blunt doesn’t want to be Susan Richards in the Fantastic Four, Jennifer Lawrence, at 30, would be the right age for her.
Again, these aren’t based on current negotiations. Marvel Studios has a number of female superheroes arriving and these are the most prominent candidates for Jennifer Lawrence at this point.
To my knowledge, she hasn’t met with Marvel Studios yet about a future project.
But there is definite interest in bringing her aboard.
