Irish alternative rockers U2 is an Irish rock band formed in 1976. The band still has the same line-up: singer/songwriter Bono; guitarist the Edge; bassist Adam Clayton; and drummer Larry Mullen Jr.

U2 burst from the post-punk/New Wave scene with their 1980 debut album, Boy.

Together for decades, U2 has been active in social and political issues of the world. The band has released 14 studio albums, selling an estimated 150-170 million records all over the world. With 22 Grammy Awards to their belt, they got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Through their music they spoke for human rights and social justice causes including Amnesty International, Product Red, and War Child, among others.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Netflix and Bad Robot Productions is deep in development for a scripted series revolving around the iconic band.

The title for the show remains unknown; likewise, the premise is a secret.

In addition, the title for the U2 series is still to be determined.

Thus far, Netflix isn’t say a word.

Much can be shared with the public in terms of U2’s journey. In fact, their own presence in the music industry also had its ups and downs. Certainly, U2’s success is not a linear journey. The band has embraced different styles of music and made it their own. Moreover, They have also managed to reinvent themselves to be able to reach out to different generations of music fans.

Indeed, U2 is not without trials and challenges faced throughout the years. Allowing to be the center of a Netflix series actually opens their lives to the world. This welcoming of the world into their lives through the show is probably the most vulnerable they have placed themselves to date.

There seems to be a surge of project features for iconic celebrities and music personalities including notable bands and groups. After the film Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury, then Elton John’s Rocketman in 2019, interest in biographical pics have risen. In fact, one such feature is coming up for Elvis Presley. Currently, one for Bob Marley is in development. And, we are very much aware that the search is on for the actress who will portray Madonna in her feature film.

Now Netflix adds U2 to the mix.

Therefore, it may be time to re-acquaint ourselves with the band and U2 can see their lives in the audience’s perspective as well.
