Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan will collaborate on the sequel to the post-apocalyptic thriller I Am Legend.
In fact, Will Smith has already posted on his Instagram to confirm that the project is in the works. Sources indicate discussions have begun on how to twist the first movie’s finale.
It would seem that Will Smith’s most recent project Emancipation, about a whipped slave named Peter, has already entered the final stages of production.
From a historical film Will Smith now goes into the future and back into his U.S. Army virologist character named Dr. Robert Neville.
The production has yet to disclose the story. Furthermore, they’ll need to answer how Dr. Neville survived from the final scene of theatrical cut.

Michael B. Jordan will co-star with Will Smith. Moreover, Michael B. Jordan and Will Smith will co-produce.
But I Am Legend’s sequel has yet to find a director. Nevertheless, Academy Award Winner for A Beautiful Mind screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is on board for the movie. He also wrote for Cinderella Man, The Da Vinci Code, and Angels and Demons.
I Am Legend premiered December 14, 2007 and generated a global box-office gross that was three times its production budget. Specifically, the movie’s budget of $150 million cashed in a total of $585.5 million worldwide.
With a theatrical and an alternate ending, I Am Legend was able to capture the emotions of survival and questioning one’s self in terms of motivation as well as re-assess whether the actions are indeed right or wrong. The theatrical ending focused on saving humanity and securing the cure.
The alternate ending made Dr. Neville realize that where he currently is is no longer a place for humans. To them, he is now the monster conducting unremorseful experiments to their kind.

In fact, the alternate ending was more similar to the ending of the novel written by Richard Matheson where the movie is based on.
The novel even had a love story between Dr. Neville and a living-infected woman named Ruth.
Will the upcoming movie tackle this side of the story? Considering that Dr. Neville died in the theatrical release, will the I Am Legend sequel actually be a prequel? Finally, what will be the character portrayed by Michael B. Jordan in the film?
More information will be revealed surely within the coming months.
