Detroit Become Human Developers Quantic Dream Working On Star Wars Game 01

There are rumors running around that Quantic Dream, makers of story-driven games like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human is working on a new Star Wars game.

A recent report by French YouTuber Gautoz said that Quantic Dream has signed a deal with Disney.

This report seemed to come out as soon as LucasFilm Games was open to pitches.

He also stated that Quantic Dreams’ contract with Sony has finished, they are now signed up with Disney.

Gautoz said:

They now finished their contract with Sony and will be signing with Disney… It looks like they will be working on a Star Wars game.

A separate report from Dual Shockers has gotten the same information but more than that, they learned that the studio has been working on the Star Wars project for 18 months already.

There are no details at this time what they did during those months.

If this is true, it means that the game was being developed earlier than the LucasFilm Games and Ubisoft collaboration.

LucasFilm Games rebranded itself in January 2021, after which they announced an open-world story-driven Star Wars project that will be published by Ubisoft.

The project will be developed by Massive Entertainment (known for The Division, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 3).

Another report from Kotaku says that this new game from Quantic Dream will not be the same type of story-driven gameplay that people expect from them.

Their sources said that the game will have more traditional action gameplay, possibly an open world, and multiplayer elements.

This seems to be very ambitious for the studio to get into and for sure it’s not in their comfort zone.

In 2019, NetEase, a Chinese company invested in the studio.

This allowed Quantic Dream the opportunity to expand their goals, and to be able to make multiplatform games.

This investment could have given Quantic Dream the needed manpower to take on a bigger project.

The game company just opened its Montreal studio earlier this year.

Their Montreal studio will have more access to talented developers, since they’ll be close to other studios like Ubisoft, Eidos, and WB Games.

Quantic Dream, a French video game development studio and publisher is well known for story-driven games that resemble movies with gameplay.

Those that focus on critical choices can have multiple effects on the game experience.

They only made a few games, but those few games have made a lot of impressions through the years.

Originally, they released Omikron: Nomad Souls (where even David Bowie made original music), and Fahrenheit also known as Indigo Prophecy

Quantic Dream had a 10-year contract with Sony to release the PlayStation consoles.

Under this contract, they were able to release Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human

We don’t know what Quantic Dream’s Star Wars game will be.

However, it is bound to be one that is ambitious, especially for a company that is so well known for a specific type of gameplay.

Because we now hear that they’ll be shifting with a very different style all together, we can only say: May the Force be with them
