Rumors are now circulating that Warner Bros Discovery is considering a reboot of the Harry Potter franchise for the theaters. Is the franchise ripe for a new take on the beloved Boy Who Lived and his friends?

True, the last installment to the Harry Potter main series arrived in theaters in 2011. And because the first movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was on the big screen in 2001, it’s possible. But the world highly commended the main series that everyone just has wonderful things to say about the adaptation. People can’t imagine a new set of cast. Not just yet.

Fans of the magical franchise may not be ready. Furthermore, the follow up series on Fantastic Beasts has been struggling on its run. On the other hand, a return of the original cast for a movie adaptation of The Cursed Child would be very much welcome. Many are hoping to see the trio Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson together in a magical project again. Continuing their roles as the adult Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger Weasley would just be fitting to see. They are around the right age for the story too.

However, people do understand that it will not be easy as other things are to be taken into consideration. Somehow the franchise has its fair share of problems with regard to views and opinions of its actors. Even J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Wizarding World, has her own situation of ‘unfollowing’.

Somehow, WBD just couldn’t get some reprieve. But, as the new management aims to set its plans in motion for the DC Universe, the same is true in reviving its Wizarding universe. Their stories already have a solid fanbase.

However, apart from the possible adaptation of The Cursed Child, the main series may just be getting its own rebirth on the way. Then again, since the previous productions were a superb telling of the main series, there needs to be something different.

People are now thinking perhaps it can be a retelling of the story in another person’s point of view. The Wizarding World has a lot of things going on while all the challenges Harry Potter was facing were happening.

The Harry Potter franchise can grow beyond his story. In fact, it already has with Fantastic Beasts and even The Cursed Child. An animated feature could also be possible. One that can feature stories from The Tales Of Beedle The Bard. Or a story about the formation of Hogwarts where they can start with the point of view of Bathilda Bagshot.

It may just not be a good time for a reboot but who knows? A better way of expanding the world could be on the horizon. Unless they find everything in the Room of Requirement.
