Plot details emerged from James Cameron’s secret plot for Avatar 2.
Avatar will have three sequels after James Cameron’s 2009 spectacle.
That’s hardly a surprise.
After all, it smashed box-office records.
So far, we barely have any details about Avatar 2.
It’s probably as mysterious as Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Then again, James Cameron doesn’t leak.
Avatar 2 and 3 were shot back-to-back.
Furthermore, both films are already done with principal photography.
Despite that, we still haven’t seen much.
Until now.
Producer Jon Landau shares a behind-the-scenes photo and concept art in his own Instagram account.
Avatar 2: Details Revealed On James Cameron’s Secret Plot

We do have a vague idea that James Cameron’s next Avatar films will feature different environments of the planet Pandora.
Moreover, the next two Avatar movies focus heavily underwater.
In May 2020, Jon Landau described Avatar 2‘s basic plot in RNZ News:
This is the story of the Sully family and what one does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they go out and explore the different regions of Pandora, including spending quite a bit of time on the water, around the water, in the water.
Avatar 2 is set more than a decade after the original.
The Resource Development Administration (or RDA) is back with a vengeance.
This forces Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and their family to flee from the rainforest.
Jake and Neytiri have two children in the film, namely Neteyam (Jamie Flatters) and Lo’ak (Britain Dalton).
Jon Landau elaborated further in Total Film:
And when you get to the reef, there’s a clan we call the Metkayina. The Sullys are no longer in the environment that they know, the rainforest. They become the fish out of water. They become the fish out of water both culturally and just environmentally.
The Scully family will be meeting a new clan as they go to Pandora’s waters.
Here, the family will meet a new set of characters including Tonowari (Cliff Curtis), Lo’ak (Bailey Bass), Aonung (Filip Geljo), Rotxo (Duane Evans Jr.), and Ronal (Kate Winslet).

Jon Landau added:
The scripts are the blueprint from which we work. So a large portion of our time was writing… with the challenge that each of those four scripts had to individually resolve itself in a story that concludes with a big emotional resolution – but when you look at them as a whole, the connected story arc of all four movies creates an even larger epic saga.
James Cameron also got other writers to assist with the sequels.
Josh Friedman, known for Terminator: Dark Fate and Foundation, worked on Avatar 2.
Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, both known for the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, are working on Avatar 3.
Additionally, Shane Salerno, known for Shaft and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is working on Avatar 4.
In other words, the different styles of writing, it will give the movies some variety.
At the same time, they will maintain James Cameron’s overall vision.
The entire Avatar series of movies will revolve on Sully and Neytiri’s journey as a family and their struggles.
It has been more than a decade since Avatar.
Nonetheless, this is James Cameron’s dream project for many years now.
He has a careful eye for detail; thus, he’s taking his own time.
