X-Men ‘97 official merchandise leaks confirms that the Sentinels will return in Marvel’s upcoming revival of the classic animated series. In all honesty, when people think of X-Men, they’ll likely picture the 1992 animated series in their heads and who could blame them?
The classic cartoon has gone down in history as one of the most iconic and beloved superhero TV shows ever made. Which is no surprise given that the series faithfully adapted some of the team’s greatest comic book storylines like:
Days Of Future Past, Savage Land and The Dark Phoenix Saga.

Moreover, it also did what the 20th Century Fox X-Men films failed to do which was give each member of the team their own moment to shine. Whilst the movies mostly did right by certain characters like:
Wolverine, Jean Grey, Professor X, Mystique and Magneto, many felt that the potential of other key heroes and villains were ultimately wasted.
Most notably Cyclops who was portrayed as a heroic leader for the team in the animated series but was given very little screen time in the original trilogy. In addition, one thing we can’t forget about the show is that epic theme song that’s become synonymous with the brand.
Once it was announced that a revival was in the works over at Marvel Studios, fans could hardly contain their excitement. The revival was given the title X-Men ‘97 which was the same year that the show initially concluded.
X-Men ‘97 will pick up where immediately after where the last series left off. Furthermore, the original voice cast will reprise their respective roles in this revival.
Multiple other animated projects were announced by Marvel Studios but this one undoubtedly made the most noise. Development on a second season has already begun.
So far it’s looking like Mr. Sinister will serve the main villain of X-Men ‘97’s first season. Nonetheless, a recent merchandise leak has confirmed the return of another classic foe.
This leak shows a Hasbro Titan Hero 12″ Sentinel figure. This reveals that the Sentinels will appear in the upcoming revival series.

The Sentinels were the first villains the X-Men faced in the original series. Having them make a comeback in the new series will undoubtedly give viewers a sense of nostalgia.
