Victoria Alonso Files Lawsuit Against Disney After Firing Her From Marvel Studios

Longtime Marvel Studios exec Victoria Alonso has filed a lawsuit against Disney following her shocking termination from the franchise.

In 2021, Victoria Alonso was promoted to president of physical and postproduction, VFX and animation production at Marvel Studios. Since then, fans have noticed a significant decline in quality from the MCU’s various releases.

Mainly because of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s desire to push out more content for Disney Plus. As a result, it’s felt like quantity has become a priority over quality for the company.

In addition, Victoria Alonso has become somewhat of a controversial figure herself in the past couple of years. This is due to multiple reports of her being difficult to work with behind the scenes.

VFX artists under Marvel Studio’s employment have complained about the producer’s unfriendly attitude towards them. Furthermore, there’s been several claims of being overworked and underpaid ever since she accepted her promotion.

During various interviews, Victoria Alonso has also managed to stir the pot among Disney execs with her comments. In one interview, she called out the company for their stance on Florida’s divisive Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill.

Bob Chapek didn’t take kindly to these comments and informed Alsonso she would no longer do interviews. Moreover, it’s now been reported that she had breached her contract with Disney after working on the Oscar-nominated documentary Argentina 1985.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter broke the shocking news that the long serving Marvel producer had been fired. Victoria Alonso has worked closely with Marvel Studios since the beginning with the first Iron Man movie.

Nonetheless, it was clear that she wasn’t going to leave quietly. It’s been confirmed that the disgraced producer has filed a lawsuit against Disney over false statement’s behind her firing.

Alonso’s attorney who’s also suing Disney on a completely different case involving an upcoming Star Wars project released this statement:

“The idea that Victoria was fired over a handful of press interviews relating to a personal passion project about human rights and democracy that was nominated for an Oscar and which she got Disney’s blessing to work on is absolutely ridiculous. Victoria, a gay Latina who had the courage to criticize Disney, was silenced. Then she was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible. Disney and Marvel made a really poor decision that will have serious consequences. There is a lot more to this story and Victoria will be telling it shortly—in one forum or another.”

Almost immediately after this hit the web, a spokesperson for Disney released this counter statement:

“It’s unfortunate that Victoria is sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy. We will continue to wish her the best for the future and thank her for her numerous contributions to the studio.”

No matter who’s telling the truth in this situation, it’s still a complete mess. However the MCU is looking the learn from it’s recent mistakes caused by Victoria Alonso’s poor leadership as of late.
