Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Quick Review

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts delivers summer movie robot-smashing action, much improved over predecessors.

This Transformers is a continuation of the spinoff Bumblebee, and a soft reboot/prequel of sorts for the Transformers/Hasbro franchise.

Director Steven Caple Jr. delivers on the robot action, and like Bumblebee, this plot makes logical sense and was far more enjoyable than the previous Michael Bay installments.

The human drama inserted into these movies have at times been a crutch and sometimes a detriment, but this plot performs admirably alongside the Maximals and Autobots struggle.

Anthony Ramos delivers a great performance, and Pete Davidson’s Mirage is fun. Ron Perlman and Michelle Yeoh deliver great voice over performances as expected.

I enjoyed reminiscing with the Hip Hop 90s music and New York City imagery of that time.

The robot action and special effects is clear and enjoyable to watch; the motion capture artists deserve praise as well.

This is good summer movie fun. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
