Tati Gabrielle is in final talks with Warner Bros. Discovery to star in the upcoming Mortal Kombat sequel as Jade.

Following claims of Karl Urban joining the upcoming Mortal Kombat sequel, another potential casting report has now surfaced. According to The Wrap, Urban’s in final talks with Warner Bros. Discovery to take on the role of Johnny Cage.

Hot off the heels of this news, it’s now been reported that Tati Gabrielle is also up for a role. Tati Gabrielle is best known for her role as Prudence Blackwood in Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina.

In addition, she’s also recently appeared in an adaptation of another popular video game franchise. Gabrielle played the villainous mercenary Jo Braddock opposite Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in Sony Pictures’ Uncharted movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the 27 year old actress is in discussions to play Jade. Tati Gabrielle has already proved she has the talent to pull off the fan favourite character and do her justice.

Jade made her debut appearance in Mortal Kombat II and has since become a staple of the whole franchise. Moreover, she first showed up as a secret boss of the universally acclaimed 1993 video game.

Due to her popularity, Jade would later return as a playable character in the 1995 follow-up, Ultimate Mortal Kombat. She was also featured in the most recent entry in the long running video game series, Mortal Kombat 11.

In the games, Jade is a close friend of Kitana, as well as a spy for the evil warlord Shao Kahn. Furthermore, the character made her first live action appearance in the 1997 film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

A sequel to the original Mortal Kombat movie that released two years prior. Unlike its predecessor, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was colossal failure both critically and financially.

So much so that it took 24 years to reboot the franchise for the 21st Century. Nonetheless, it was worth the wait as most fans have declared that Mortal Kombat 2021 is the superior adaptation.

With the reboot receiving a slightly better reception than the original two movies, production on the sequel is well underway. Already it’s looking to be more ambitious than the first with two high profile actors joining the ensemble.
