Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Image Hints Love For Miles Morales

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse dropped its new trailer, which included a surprising MCU spoiler. Consider this a warning for those who’d rather not know. Well, at least before you see the trailer. Sony was extremely well-behaved with the marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home. They managed to keep Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield‘s presence in the film even after its release. Poor Garfield went on what seemed like a denial tour.

In just about every interview, Garfield had to lie about his participation in the movie. It became a blueprint on how to keep a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). It became hilarious as Garfield should’ve received an Oscar nomination for finding new ways to combat the evidence.

Nonetheless, longtime followers of mine had known since I became the first person to scoop he and Maguire were in the movie. That was in October 2019. Showbiz Cheat Sheet covered it here.

Although Sony distributed Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was a Marvel Studios production. It took place in the MCU and included some of its characters. But fans continued to speculate when an actual Sony Spider-Man film would reference the MCU.

While Venom: Let There Be Carnage included Tom Holland in its post-credits scene, that’s still Spider-Man, which Sony has the theatrical rights for. In addition, Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Morbius falls into that category, too.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse takes it to another level. The trailer actually name-drops Doctor Strange, which would’ve caused gasps in movie theaters, at least for those who know these universes are separate. In addition, Earth-199999 is mentioned. For those unaware, that is the MCU. But will Doctor Strange show up? Probably not. Still, it’s a mind-blowing surprise.

It certainly makes one wonder what the specifics of Sony’s new deal with Disney exactly are. There are always these bogus rumors that spread of another corporate divorce between the two. I was the one who bravely and accurately debunked that in August 2019. The press tried to scoff at me and ultimately failed.

Nevertheless, it continues to be regurgitated in different context each time. Without a doubt, the relationship between Sony and Disney is tighter than ever. After all, that’s what Spider-Man: No Way Home earning nearly $2 billion worldwide will do. The two have a multi-billion dollar marriage. Nobody is breaking their vows after that. Let’s get real.

And when Sony is on their own they end up with a flop such as Morbius.

LOL, Sony, LOL.

Rumors abound that Holland, Maguire, and Garfield will have live-action cameos in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I believe it. Indeed, such a reunion would bring the house down. At that point, Sony would be printing money.

The new synopsis for the movie is as follows:

“After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”

2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a highly successful film for Sony. Some felt Sony didn’t need Marvel Studios after that. All it proved was that Sony pulled together an impeccable team for their animated franchise. And they’re well aware of this. Overall, they’re better working together.

People continually await Miles Morales’ live-action debut given his popularity with this franchise. Sources tell me that when it happens, it’ll be in the MCU. Marvel Studios has big plans for Morales going forward.
