The lead actor of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Simu Liu, wants a seat with the Avengers.
There is a lot riding on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as it prepares for its opening.
After all, it’s the first Asian-focused movie that’s set within the MCU.
Consequently, there is much pressure on the cast and crew in making this right.
This is especially felt by Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi.
He is one of the stars of the Canadian TV comedy, Kim’s Convenience.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is his big break.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Liu revealed expectations for his future in the MCU.

Liu acknowledged:
In terms of what’s next, I know what’s on my mind is the same as what’s on everybody else’s mind, and hopefully, there’s an Avengers in the future, somewhere. Obviously, I don’t know anything about that, but being such a big fan of the whole franchise, I know that that’s the gold star.
He added that:
All of the media frenzy that surrounds one of those properties is going to be a whole beast unto itself, so it’s certainly what I hope for.
We do think that Liu does know a bit of what is planned to happen with his character.
Many would love to see Shang-Chi join up with the Avengers at some point in the MCU.
Marvel Studios plans all of their TV programs and films with long-term goals in mind.
But I also think details are not given fully since the plans will still rely on the performance of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

When THR asked if he is already contracted to play Shang-Chi in another movie, Liu answered:
I’ve got nothing. I’ve got absolutely nothing. I think we’re just so focused on pushing this movie out to the world and making sure people watch it. And when it releases in theaters September 3rd, wherever it’s safe for people to do so, that they come out and experience the mind-blowing action and the incredible story that this movie has.
As Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to show in theaters this weekend, there are a lot of positive reviews about it.
Nevertheless, the question still remains if it will perform well. It will not be released simultaneously on the Disney Plus streaming service unlike Black Widow.
That had a simultaneous release, causing it to slightly underperform in theaters.
It’s going to be hard to tell how Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will turn out when it comes out because of the raging pandemic.
It is understandable that the pressure is still there for Shang-Chi.
The movie’s performance will also determine the future if it will have a sequel.
Make no mistake: Liu will return.
Shang-Chi is one of those puzzle pieces that will make the Asian super team Agents of Atlas happen.
