Ronda Rousey Reportedly In Talks For Captain America: New World Order Role

UFC and WWE champion Ronda Rousey is reportedly in talks for a significant role in Captain America: New World Order.

When it was announced that Captain Marvel would be getting her own solo movie, casting speculation started to run wild. Moreover, several promising actresses began to campaign for the titular role.

The most prominent of which being Ronda Rousey. Rousey is best known for her prosperous career as both an Olympic medalist and professional wrestler.

She’s the first American female to earn an Olympic medal for Judo. Rousey won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics.

Furthermore, she’s the first and currently only female champion in both the UFC and WWE. Rousey sadly left her UFC career behind following a devastating back-to-back knockout defeat.

Her role in the WWE however, continues to thrive. In addition to her professional fighting career, Rousey had also branched out into acting.

Her most famous roles being in The Expendables 3 and the seventh Fast And Furious movie. In 2015 she strongly expressed her desire to join the MCU, particularly as Captain Marvel.

She even managed to catch the attention of Kevin Feige himself. Feige revealed that he was overjoyed with her enthusiasm to portray the character.

Nonetheless the role would eventually go to Oscar winning actress Brie Larson. Larson’s charming performance would help make Captain Marvel a billion dollar franchise.

However that doesn’t mean that Ronda Rousey joining the MCU is completely out of the question. According to a new report from Giant Freakin’ Robot, she could already be in talks for a different character.

Thundra.

In the comics, Thundra’s a powerful warrior from a technologically advanced future timeline where men have been conquered by women. The physically imposing Femizon made her debut appearance in Fantastic Four #129 back in 1972.

GFR’s report claims that Marvel is currently negotiating with Rousey to portray the villain in Captain America: New World Order.

Via their website, they posted:

“Our trusted and proven sources have told us that wrestler, MMA fighter, and actress Ronda Rousey is in negotiations to play the super-strong warrior Thundra in Captain America: New World Order.”

At this point there’s not much known about the plot for Anthony Mackie’s first solo Captain America movie. Last year it was announced that the Hulk’s arch nemesis, The Leader would be the film’s main antagonist.

Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role as the character following his appearance in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. How or even if Thundra will play a part in the plot is anyone’s guess.

She could be brawn to The Leader’s brain, which would prove quite the challenge to Sam Wilson. Should this rumour turn out to be accurate then Ronda Rousey would be an ideal choice for the powerful Femizon.
