Matt Smith’s Representatives Fuel Fantastic Four Rumours

Matt Smith is the now the most likely candidate to play Mr. Fantastic in the MCU after the actor’s representatives offer a suspicious response to recent casting reports. With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes still ongoing, it’ll likely be a few more months until we know for certain who’ll star in Marvel StudiosFantastic Four reboot.

Endless reports about which four actors could be cast as Marvel’s first family has made it nearly impossible to determine what’s accurate. Nonetheless, the hottest rumour right now is that former Doctor Who star Matt Smith is the current frontrunner for the role of Reed Richards A.K.A. Mr. Fantastic.

As someone who grew up watching Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who, I can say without any doubt that he would be a perfect choice for the MCU’s Reed Richards. The two characters both share a deep love for science, gadgets and exploring the known universe, as well as an intellect beyond anything on Earth.

Matt Smith masterfully captured these traits with his time on Doctor Who and would undoubtedly do the same with Mr. Fantastic. In addition, Smith is also globally known for his role as the arrogant and callous Damon Targaryen in HBO’s House Of The Dragon.

His performance in the Game Of Thrones prequel, earned him universal acclaim and has convinced viewers that he should be nominated for an Emmy. With all that being said, Matt Smith certainly has the talent and the look to pull off Reed Richards.

Furthermore, reports of Smith being in deep negotiations with Marvel Studios for the role have reached the point where his representatives have had to get a comment. Instead of a simple yes or no answer, Smith’s representatives instead said:

This suspicious response has only aroused further speculation that these reports are in fact true and that the actor will be joining the MCU. Moreover, this wouldn’t be the first time that Smith starred in a film based on Marvel Comics.

The actor previously appeared as the main villain of Sony Pictures’ critically panned Morbius solo movie starring Jared Leto. With that movie turning out the way it did, hopefully Matt Smith can follow in the footsteps of Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan and get a second chance in the MCU.
