Liv Tyler is confirmed to reprise her role as Betty Ross after fifteen years in Captain America: New World Order. The MCU’s Multiverse Saga has seen the returns of multiple supporting cast members that we didn’t expect to see again.
So far we’ve seen the likes of Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgård and Tim Roth return to the franchise. In addition, we’ve even seen actors from non-MCU movies make surprising appearances in recent instalments.
Most notably Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Patrick Stewart, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans.
It doesn’t end there.
Captain America: New World Order, will feature the long awaited return of another major supporting character from the MCU’s past. Tim Blake Nelson made his first and only appearance as scientist Samuel Sterns in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

His final scene in the movie set-up his villainous transformation into the Hulk’s classic comic book nemesis The Leader. Unfortunately, this loose thread was never tied up as the Hulk’s only solo MCU outing never received a proper sequel.
A majority of loose ends from the film have ultimately been tied up in other MCU entries released later on. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law continued Tim Roth’s story as the Abomination.
Nonetheless, we’ll finally see the character fully embrace his horrifying persona in the upcoming Captain America sequel. Moreover, The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed another Hulk character will be making their MCU comeback in New World Order.
The last time we saw Bruce Banner’s longtime love interest Betty Ross in live action was in The Incredible Hulk. Like Samuel Sterns, Ross has only appeared once in the MCU with the exception of an animated cameo in What If..?.
She was portrayed by actress Liv Tyler.
Liv Tyler is best known for her portrayal of the half-elven princess Arwen in Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings Trilogy.
After nearly fifteen years since her first appearance Liv Tyler will finally be reprising her role as Betty Ross. In a statement from The Hollywood Reporter released via their website, the outlet posted:
“Fifteen years after starring in The Incredible Hulk, Liv Tyler is making her return to Marvel Studios, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Tyler has joined the cast of Captain America 4, currently titled Captain America: New World Order. She will reprise the role of scientist Betty Ross.”
Captain America: New World Order is currently filming in Washington D.C. with star Anthony Mackie already seen on set. The sequel will also see the return of Betty Ross’ authoritative father, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
Following actor William Hurt’s tragic passing, Harrison Ford has taken over the role for future instalments. Furthermore, Thunderbolt Ross will now be the new president of the United States in the MCU.

Recent set photos have shown Liv Tyler on set with Anthony Mackie filming what appears to be a funeral scene.
Details regarding the movie’s plot and the reason behind Liv Tyler’s surprising return are scarce right now. However it’s beginning to sound like this’ll not just be a Captain America sequel, but also a Hulk one too.
