Sony Delays Kraven The Hunter And Madame Web

Kraven the Hunter from Sony has received an R rating. This is the first Spider-Man spin-off to acquire an R. The exclusive trailer premiere at CinemaCon brought on the blood. Although the Venom franchise had its moments of brutality, they were all within a PG-13 context. Kraven the Hunter rips off the chains and even someone’s nose.

Maybe Kraven the Hunter did that so he wouldn’t smell the stench of Morbius.

LOL, Sony, LOL.

Even after the downright hilarious failure of Morbius, Sony remains determined to continue building their own shared Marvel universe. Alas, fans are widely uninterested in what they have to offer minus the Midas touch of Marvel Studios.

Nonetheless, Sony are going to keep pumping out as many Spider-Man-related movies so they can retain the live-action rights.

Several projects have been to confirmed to be in development but only two so far are officially in production. A spin-off film starring obscure Spider-Man supporting character Madame Web is currently filming.

Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson will star as the titular clairvoyant. In addition, she’ll be joined by Sydney Sweeney, who’s rumored to be portraying Julia Carpenter’s version of Spider-Woman.

Kraven the Hunter has been a character that fans have anxiously been waiting to see in live action for years now. Unfortunately his cinematic debut won’t be part of the MCU, nor will he have any ties to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the world’s greatest hunter. Taylor-Johnson previously portrayed the MCU’s version of Quicksilver in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. His time as the character was short-lived when he tragically met a gruesome demise in the same movie.

Furthermore, he’ll be joined by another MCU actor in Russell Crowe. Crowe portrayed Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder and play Kraven’s father.

For a while now not much has been revealed about Kraven the Hunter except for some leaked set photos. However, an exclusive first look was recently shown at CinemaCon, giving us our first official details. It’s now been completed confirmed by Sony that Kraven the Hunter will be R-rated. The trailer is said to have featured a grotesque scene with Kraven ripping a mercenary’s eyeball out with his teeth.

Without a doubt, this sounds much better than what Taylor-Johnson teased in June 2022. He then revealed:

Kraven the Hunter, one of Marvel’s most iconic, notorious anti-heroes — Spider Man’s number one rival. not an alien, or a wizard. He’s just a hunter, a human with conviction. An animal lover and a protector of the natural world. He’s a very, very cool character.

Animal lover? Thousands of Kraven fans literally flipped their desks over in unison like a loud WTF. Moreover, we also see Taylor-Johnson donning the character’s classic comic book costume.

In recent years, thanks to the success of Deadpool, R-rated superhero movies are becoming more common. Deadpool 3 will be Marvel Studios first ever R-rated film.

Sounds like Sony are also wanting a slice of the pie.
