Keanu Reeves Discusses His Wolverine Interest

Keanu Reeves has recently discussed his interest to portray Wolverine.

When you think of movie stars, chances are high that Keanu Reeves will be the first to spring to mind. After all, he’s starred in multiple iconic blockbusters throughout his incredible career like The Matrix, Point Break and Speed.

In addition, Reeves is also famous for his work in Bill And Ted, Toy Story 4 and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Moreover, he’s portrayed two of cinema’s most bad ass characters that’s ever been put to screen.

Of course we’re talking about Neo A.K.A. The One and John Wick A.K.A. Baba Yaga. Both of which are undoubtedly the actor’s most well known and beloved roles.

The latter of which he’s set to reprise for a fourth instalment later this month. Last time we saw the unstoppable assassin, he was near death after being shot and falling from the continental’s roof.

Thankfully he was secretly retrieved by Laurence Fishburne’s eccentric character The Bowery King. Both agree to to join forces against the High Table setting up the upcoming sequel.

The John Wick franchise has remained consistently popular throughout the years so anticipation is understandably high right now. Promotion for John Wick Chapter 4 is currently underway and Keanu Reeves recently took part in a Reddit AMA.

During this, one user asked him if there was any role in his career that he regret turning down.

There wasn’t.

Nonetheless there’s one character that he’s always had a strong desire to play. A certain short tempered mutant with adamantium claws. In his reply, Reeves’ said:

“No… but I did always want to play Wolverine.”

This isn’t the first time the actor has expressed his feelings about portraying Wolverine. He previously brought up this same topic while promoting Bill And Ted Face The Music back in 2020.

Co-star Alex Winter believed there was still time for Reeves to take on the role in some shape or form. However Reeves being more pessimistic said that it was too late for him now.

That’s not entirely true with the MCU now exploring the endless possibilities of the Multiverse. After all, he has met with Marvel Studios before in regards to an undisclosed role.

When asked about this, Reeves said that they haven’t yet found a character for him yet. He explained:

“We have met, and Kevin Feige’s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything, gotta find something.”

It’s very possible that he’s pulling an Andrew Garfield of his own here. He must’ve brought up his eagerness to take on Wolverine during his talk with Kevin Feige.

Feige always listens to his stars. So there’s definitely a chance that he could have a cameo as a Wolverine variant in Avengers: Secret Wars.
