Jon Bernthal begins training for his upcoming return as The Punisher alongside former Frank Castle actor Thomas Jane.
With Daredevil: Born Again currently filming in New York, Jon Bernthal is gearing up for his return as The Punisher. Much like Charlie Cox, there was no doubt about whether or not Marvel Studios would bring Jon Bernthal back into the fold.
Since his debut in Daredevil: Season 2, the actor has cemented himself as the most popular adaptation of Frank Castle. In addition, his solo spin-off series is considered to be on par with Daredevil, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Jessica Jones.

Jon Bernthal has recently been seen training vigorously for his highly anticipated return to the MCU. An Instagram video posted by the weapon manufacturers Taran Tactical Innovations, shows Bernthal testing out their vast inventory.
Moreover, he’s seen training with these weapons alongside actor Thomas Jane. Thomas Jane is known for his roles in popular movies like Boogie Nights, Deep Blue Sea and The Mist.
Furthermore, he also known for his own portrayal of The Punisher in the 2004 feature film of the same name. He was the second actor to take on the role of the tortured vigilante after Dolph Lundgren.
Thomas Jane’s Punisher movie received mixed to negative reviews and only earned $54 million worldwide against a $33 million budget. Nonetheless, the movie has gained a cult following in recent years and is often regarded as a classic.
Plus Thomas Jane’s portrayal of Frank Castle has always been held in high regard by fans of the character. A sequel was planned but Jane dropped out due to creative differences.
The actor stated:
“What I won’t do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don’t believe in. I’ve always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch.”

Both Thomas Jane and Jon Bernthal have a deep love for the brutal anti-hero and have now shared that bond. The pair are seen trying out various handguns and assault rifles.
