Ghostbusters Star Ernie Hudson Teases Upcoming Sequel

Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson has teased the upcoming sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife and has revealed who else will be returning.

The Ghostbusters franchise was believed to be dead and buried after the embarrassing 2016 female-led remake. Nonetheless, Sony remained determined to turn it back into the global phenomenon it once was in 1984.

With the latest entry Ghostbusters: Afterlife, it seems that the franchise has once again found its footing. This much needed revamp brought back the same charm and humour as the first Ghostbusters movie.

Moreover, it featured the return of the classic cast of lovable characters alongside a new generation. Except for Rick Moranis who’s now retired and Harold Ramis who sadly passed away back in 2014.

Ramis’ legacy was a key part of Afterlife’s plot and he even made an emotional cameo during the final battle. The actor was brought back with CGI in a similar style to Carrie Fisher’s role in The Rise Of Skywalker.

In addition, it was also directed by Jason Reitman, whose father directed the original two movies. Earning over $200 million worldwide with favourable reviews, it’s no surprise that Sony announced another sequel.

Original cast member Ernie Hudson recently sat down with Rohan Patel on YouTube to discuss his latest project, Champions. Ernie Hudson portrayed Winston Zeddemore.

Furthermore, he also gave us a tease about what’s to come in the next Ghostbusters movie. When asked about the sequel, Hudson goes over his character’s arc and reveals other familiar faces who’ll also be returning.

He explained:

“I think now Winston has been very successful on his own, and he’s made a lot of money, but he loves the franchise, and so, he’s brought a lot of his wealth to the Ghostbusters, to try to go deeper into what’s going on and make sense of it. So, we discover that in the new film, and it’s just a great adventure. But, in the tradition of Ghostbusters, I love the fact that Winston, you know, has a place and is not feeling like an add on, he’s very, very much a part of it. So, yeah, it’s already there. It’s a great script. Gil Kenan is directing this new one, Jason is producing, but it’s just great, and it’s great to be back with Danny and Bill and Annie Potts, and the new cast, and yeah, it’s been 40 years. It feels like family.”
