Gal Gadot Confirms Wonder Woman 3 Is Still Happening

Gal Gadot has just confirmed that she’s working on a new Wonder Woman movie with James Gunn and Peter Safran. Not long after it was announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be leading the newly formed DC Studios, Patty Jenkins’ third Wonder Woman movie immediately found itself on the chopping block.

Wanting to take their DC Cinematic Universe in a new direction, the pair confirmed that the upcoming sequels to Wonder Woman, Black Adam and Man Of Steel were cancelled. Instead a franchise reboot was put into place with multiple characters such as Superman and Batman being recast with younger actors.

In addition, this has also left Gal Gadot’s future as the iconic superhero in serious doubt as the actress previously stated that she would only do another Wonder Woman movie as long as Patty Jenkins was involved. It’s been confirmed that Jenkins will play no role in any DC projects for the foreseeable future.

Furthermore, the first chapter of films and TV series for the new DCU was revealed with no Wonder Woman solo film in site. However a TV series centred around the Amazons of Themyscira titled: Paradise Lost, was announced but it’s unknown if Wonder Woman or Gal Gadot will appear.

Moreover, with the recent recasting of Henry Cavill as Superman with up and coming actor David Corenswet, it was looking highly likely that Wonder Woman would also be recast. Nonetheless, a recent interview with Gal Gadot has revealed that the actress is still attached to the role.

Gadot also confirmed that she’s currently in talks with James Gunn and Peter Safran to develop a third Wonder Woman movie. Speaking exclusively to Comicbook.com to promote her new Netflix movie Heart Of Stone, Gal Gadot revealed:

“I love portraying Wonder Woman, it’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”

So it looks like Gal Gadot’s future in the DC Universe is secure which will simultaneously please and upset fans. While it’ll be good to see Gadot continue as Wonder Woman, it will also be painful for those who wanted to see more of Henry Cavill as Superman.

If anyone deserves to star and co-produce their own superhero solo film, it’s Henry Cavill given his love and respect for Superman.
