G.I. Joe will now fulfill the fantasies of toy fans by crossing over into the Transformers movie franchise.
Eight years ago, Paramount confirmed plans for their own cinematic universe centered around the Hasbro toys brand. In case you didn’t already know, Hasbro are responsible for two of the world’s biggest and most beloved toy lines.

Both of which went on to become huge franchises in the 1980s after receiving their own hit animated TV shows. Moreover, Transformers and G.I. Joe would also go on to headline two respective live action films in the late 2000’s. The former finding the most success with six films that have grossed a collective sum of $5.023 billion worldwide so far.
This currently makes Transformers the 14th highest grossing film series of all time. G.I. Joe, on the other hand, has struggled to find its footing with all three films failing to meet expectations.
The most recent of which losing Paramount over $88 million after only earning $40.1 million against a $88-110 million budget. In addition, the Transformers movies also began to decline financially with it’s universally panned fifth entry.
Nonetheless, both Paramount and Hasbro continue to see potential in both franchises following the success of the MCU. In 2015, they began to plan out their own cinematic universe with Transformers and G.I Joe at the centre.
Transformers was rebooted in 2018 with a solo Bumblebee film that breathed new life into the franchise. A new Transformers movie titled Rise of the Beasts was confirmed soon after and has just been released worldwide.
Furthermore, it’s now been confirmed to be the official launching point to the Hasbro Cinematic Universe. The film’s ending sees Anthony Ramos’ character Noah Diaz being recruited to join the G.I. Joe team.
What comes next has not yet been announced. The following contains spoilers for Rise of the Beasts. However it looks like we’ll be seeing G.I. Joe appear in the sequel to Transformers: Rise off the Beasts, which is set up in this adventure.

Also, one of our scoops has been confirmed. A couple of years ago, Geekosity founder Mikey Sutton revealed that M.A.S.K. will also be part of Paramount’s plans.
Development on a live action M.A.S.K. movie has been at a standstill for a while now. But with Hasbro’s shared universe finally getting off the ground, it won’t long until M.A.S.K. show up.
