Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Debuts On Rotten Tomatoes With An Impressive Score

Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive score of 89%.

A feature film based on the insanely popular fantasy role-playing game Dungeons And Dragons has been in development since 2013. Immediately after it was originally announced by Warner Bros. Pictures a lawsuit against the studio was filed by Hasbro.

It turns out that at the same time, Hasbro was already co-producing a D&D movie with Universal Pictures. This lawsuit ended up going all the way to court.

Nonetheless, an agreement was inevitably struck between all parties involved. As a result, Hasbro would now co-produce the film with Warner Bros. instead of Universal.

However, Dungeons And Dragons would unfortunately fall into development hell for next four years. Moreover, this led to Hasbro and Warner Bros. eventually parting ways, putting the movie in limbo.

Thankfully, Paramount would be the ones to pick up the project. This gave the movie a much better shot of finally coming to fruition.

Which of course it did.

Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to release in theatres worldwide on March 31st. The star studded cast includes big names like: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Hugh Grant.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein serve as the co-directors for the movie. Both previously collaborated on the hit comedy film, Game Night which they also co-directed.

Furthermore, the pair also wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: Homecoming and the upcoming DC movie, The Flash. So far it’s seeming like Paramount and Hasbro have a potential hit on their hands.

An official synopsis for Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves reads:

“A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”

In addition, the first wave of reviews for the long awaited adaptation have started to appear online. Before its theatrical release, Paramount held a private screening for critics this past weekend at the SXSW festival.

So far the overall reception for the movie has been mostly positive. At the time of writing this, Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves currently boasts an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score.

After 28 reviews, it now stands at 89%.

Many critics have called the movie a fun, charming, exciting and entertaining experience. High praise has also been offered for the loveable cast and their strong performances.

Looks like Dungeons And Dragons has a good chance at becoming a big blockbuster franchise for Paramount. A separate Paramount Plus TV series has also just been given a straight-to-series order.
