Dave Filoni has opened up on his upcoming Star Wars crossover movie and explained if it’ll serve as a culmination.

Dave Filoni has undoubtedly been the Star Wars franchise’s greatest asset over the years. If not for him we wouldn’t have the three hit animated shows The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch and Rebels.

Moreover, he then went on to play a significant role in the development of the live action Disney Plus shows. One of which will star a fan favourite character he created for The Clone Wars animated movie back in 2008.

Ahsoka will premiere on Disney Plus in August 2023. Furthermore, it’s recently been revealed that Dave Filoni wrote all eight episodes for the upcoming Mandalorian spin-off.

Many consider Dave Filoni to be the man who saved the Star Wars franchise after the sequel trilogy disappointed fans. In addition, some have even referred to him as the Kevin Feige of the beloved sci-fi saga.

The fact that he hasn’t helmed a Star Wars movie after all this time is baffling. Nonetheless, it was announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event that the producer will finally direct his own film.

His upcoming New Republic movie will reportedly serve as a crossover and a culmination for multiple Disney Plus shows. Whilst talking to Empire Magazine, Dave Filoni opened up on this saying:

“Culmination is an interesting word, the way I look at it, there are small stories, and then there’s the big story of the day, too. A New Hope, Empire and Return Of The Jedi tell the important parts of the tale that really define the history of the period. There are all kinds of sub-stories underneath that. We’ve been building all these small stories. To me, a theatrical experience has to have a big idea – a monumental moment in the time period that changes what’s happening, you’re looking for those moments that define an era, and that’s what the films really should be about – whether it’s characters coming together, or a defining moment.”

Whatever story he has planned, it sounds big enough to be a great Star Wars movie.
