Booster Gold Casting Rumours Debunked By James Gunn

Booster Gold casting rumours have been debunked by James Gunn.

Probably one of the most long overdue superheroes to get their own live action DC project is Booster Gold. First appearing in Booster Gold #1 back in February 1986, Michael Carter was a time traveler from the 25th century.

Growing up poor due to his father’s gambling, Carter became a star quarterback for Gotham University. Nonetheless, his father would eventually renter his life and convince him to deliberately lose games for his gambling purposes.

Once exposed, Carter was expelled and disgraced. Following this incident, he would find work as a night watchman for the Metropolis Space Museum.

Using technology and a super suit he stole from the museum, he hoped to become history’s greatest superhero. Using the name Booster Gold, Carter traveled back to the 20th century to achieve this goal.

In addition, he found himself paired with a century security robot named Skeets who would act as his A.I. assistant. Despite his original ill intentions, Booster Gold would eventually develop into a more heroic character.

Moreover, he would also go on to join the Justice League and become good friends with fellow member Blue Beetle. A solo HBO Max series for Booster Gold was recently announced by DC Studios co-head James Gunn.

It will be part of the DCU’s first chapter of projects. Furthermore, there’s already been multiple rumours regarding who could portray the character.

Many believe that MCU star Chris Pratt could have a good shot at taking on the role. Understandable given that Star-Lord and Booster Gold share similar characteristics.

Pratt is also a good friend of James Gunn like the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. He’s already expressed interest in playing a part in Gunn’s DCU.

Another named that’s popped up in a supposed casting leak is Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul. One fan took to Twitter to ask James Gunn about this leak’s accuracy.

With Gunn being very responsive to fans, he replied:

“Zero truth to that. I like Aaron a lot personally and professionally. But we’ve never discussed this. And the rest of it is also 100% made up.”

Casting for Superman: Legacy is currently underway so we probably won’t hear anything about Booster Gold for a while.
