Affleck’s Cut Post-Credit Scene Teased His DCEU Future

Ben Affleck’s scrapped post-credit scene from The Flash would have teased the actor’s full-time return as Batman in the DCEU.

From start to finish, production for The Flash was messier than what Ezra Miller’s reputation looks like today. With endless rewrites, multiple reshoots and several director changes, one has to wonder if Warner Bros. knew what they wanted this movie to be even after it had released.

Nonetheless, their worse fears were realised after The Flash turned out to be a bigger bomb than 2011’s Green Lantern. So much so that the movie has been released on digital only just a month after it’s worldwide release.

Before hand, the studio had great faith in the long awaited solo film for DC’s Scarlet Speedster following tremendous reviews from various screen tests. Moreover, some had even claimed that The Flash was the best DC film since 2008’s The Dark Knight.

Speaking of which, the movie featured not one but two Batmen with both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton reprising their roles as their respective versions of the character. Furthermore, the initial plan was to have Michael Keaton replace Ben Affleck as the DCEU’s main Batman going forward.

However those plans changed as The Flash ended with a bizarre appearance from George Clooney as Bruce Wayne rather than Keaton. In addition, it’s now been confirmed that a supposed post-credit scene featuring Ben Affleck didn’t make the final cut.

With the recent release of The Flash on digital, a number of behind the scenes photos from the film have made their way online. Two of which show director Andy Muschietti alongside Ben Affleck who’s seen wearing a different Batsuit to the one we saw onscreen.

While the design of this Batsuit is more or less the same, the biggest difference is the bat emblem being silver rather than black. The context behind this unreleased scene hasn’t been disclosed but it seems to line up with old reports of Ben Affleck’s full-time return as Batman after The Flash.

The actor was confirmed to have filmed a cameo for Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom before it was scrapped by James Gunn. No doubt this scene was meant to tease Affleck’s future involvement with the DCEU before David Zaslav ordered a full reboot.
