Beastie Boys have announced that their 1998 hit album ‘Hello, Nasty’ will receive a vinyl reissue to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary.

Despite disbanding in 2012 due to the tragic death of group member Adam “MCA” Yauch, the Beastie Boys remain favourites among hip hop fans to this day. Prior to Yaunch’s passing, Beastie Boys were the third rap group ever to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

First forming back in 1981, Beastie Boys found their first major success two years later with the comedy hip hop single ‘Cooky Puss.’ Moreover, they also went on tour with Madonna in 1985 before releasing their first ever album ‘License To Ill’ a year later.

Overall, the group have sold a whopping 20 million records in the United States alone. Furthermore, they’ve also had seven platinum-selling albums from 1986 to 2004.

After losing Adam Yaunch, the group decided it was best to to call it quits and soon after announced that they would no longer be making music. Nonetheless, the remaining members have since released several retrospective works, including a book, a documentary, and a career-spanning compilation album in the years that followed their disbandment.

Founding member and guitarist John Berry died four years later on May 19, 2016, aged 52 after a long battle with frontotemporal dementia. Berry was credited with coming up with the group’s name and even held the Beastie Boys’ first show in his own loft.

Out of all their releases, ‘Hello, Nasty’ is among the most successful albums that Beastie Boys have ever produced. In addition, ‘Hello, Nasty’ even went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

To celebrate the fan favourite album’s looming 25th anniversary, a vinyl reissue of ‘Hello, Nasty’ has been confirmed to release on September 8th. It can be purchased via UMe.

The reissue will feature 21 bonus tracks including rarities, remixes, and B-sides, packaged alongside the original album in an eight-panel gatefold, along with a coffee table book–style slipcase. Like many other legendary groups, the Beastie Boys are looking to stand the test of time.
