Batgirl: New Set Photos From Cancelled DC Film Emerge Online

Batgirl: new behind the scenes photos from the cancelled DC film have recently emerged online teasing what could have been. With both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash underperforming, one has to wonder if cancelling the Batgirl movie was the right call.

Batgirl was originally intended to be set in Walter Hamada’s vision for the DC Universe after The Flash reset the timeline. It would’ve starred Leslie Grace as the titular heroine with Michael Keaton once again reprising his role as Batman.

Following the Warner Bros. Discovery, CEO David Zaslav declared that the movie was unreleasable and had all but one copy destroyed. This last remaining cut of Batgirl was shown to a select audience who worked on the movie before being locked away in the vault.

In addition, the studio made claims that the reasoning for the movie’s cancellation was ultimately down to cost-cutting measures. As expected, this news sent shockwaves through not just the DC fandom and but also Hollywood itself.

Even those who weren’t that interested in the movie were left disappointed with this shocking decision. Moreover, Jimmy Kimmel even made a joke about the cancellation earlier this year at the Academy Awards.

A petition for the studio to release Batgirl was made soon after it got the axe. Nonetheless, DC would instead prioritise other upcoming movies like:

Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Three of which now been released and ultimately left a lot to be desired at the box office. Furthermore, in the wake of these box office disasters, new behind the scenes photos from Batgirl have somehow made their way online.

One showing Keaton’s Batman standing in what appears to be a clock tower. The same one where he fought Jack Nicholson’s Joker?

Another of a dreary looking alley in Gotham City. The last one shows Leslie Grace taking a break between shooting a scene in a church.

Appearing via Twitter, these three images have reignited interest in having the Batgirl movie being released. Unfortunately, DC Studios’ co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are intent on looking forward instead of back.

So it’s highly unlikely that this Batgirl movie will ever see the light of day.
