Avengers: Secret Wars Will Be Split Into Two Parts

Avengers: Secret Wars will be split into two parts like Infinity War and Endgame with part two releasing in 2028.

When Thanos was revealed in the post-credit scene in The Avengers, fans knew that Marvel Studios was planning something big. In October 2014, Marvel announced that a third Avengers movie was already in active development.

Thanos would serve as the villain and the plot would be based on The Infinity Gauntlet storyline from the comics. In addition, it was also announced that the movie would be split into two parts.

Avengers: Infinity War part one was set to release in 2018 while part two would be released a year later. This lucrative move was inspired by Warner Bros.’ decision to make Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows a two parter.

A decision that would prove to be very fruitful for both franchises and their studios. Nonetheless, the second part would later be renamed Avengers: Endgame in order to distinguish the respective stories.

Both of these movies went on to earn over $2 billion worldwide individually. Moreover, Endgame currently holds the title for the second highest grossing movie of all time behind James Cameron’s Avatar.

At San Diego Comic-Con last year, two new Avengers films were announced by Kevin FeigeAvengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Both will serve as the epic conclusion to the MCU’s ongoing Multiverse Saga. Furthermore, the ending’s to Loki Season One and Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania set the stage for The Kang Dynasty.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror has already proven himself to be a serious threat for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. We can only guess the lasting impact he’ll have on the franchise after the next Avengers movie premieres.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide in 2025. However, Secret Wars will unleash the full madness of the multiverse onto the MCU.

The storyline of same name that the movie will be adapting is undoubtedly Marvel Comic’s biggest and most ambitious ever. In order to do it justice, many would assume that Secret Wars would have to be around six hours long.

With Marvel’s longest film (Avengers: Endgame) being just over three hours long that would be extremely unlikely to happen. There is another way though.

Split Secret Wars into two parts like Infinity War and Endgame. There have already been various rumours that Marvel Studios could actually go with this approach.

Those rumours are true, Marvel intends to make Avengers: Secret Wars a two part blockbuster. However like their predecessors they’ll likely be given separate titles rather than being called Secret Wars Part One and Two.

The first of these films will be released in 2027 as currently planned with the second releasing the following year. What’s so significant about this is that 2028 will mark the 20th anniversary of the MCU.

Avengers: Infinity War’s release in 2018 celebrated the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Having Secret Wars do the same a decade later makes sense and is poetic.
