Alpha Flight makes their long awaited return to Marvel Comics in a new series coming this August.
Easily the most overlooked team of Mutant Superheroes in Marvel Comics is Alpha Flight. Alpha Flight made their debut appearance in The Uncanny X-Men #120 back in April 1979.
In addition, they were initially created to serve as part of Wolverine’s back story. Furthermore, just like Wolverine, all members of Alpha Flight are Canadian.
The team was created by Canadian writer and artist John Byrne. Byrne never intended for Alpha Flight to become an ongoing title.

He confessed that he only created them to survive a fight with the X-Men for the purposes of that storyline. Nonetheless, Marvel would go on to publish an Alpha Flight comic book series from 1983 to 1994.
Moreover, they now serve as Canada’s premier superhero team as opposed to America’s Avengers. Alpha Flight has yet to make a live action appearance.
The team of Mutants will make their long overdue comeback this fall during the Fall of X storyline. This will see the X-Men face a danger unlike which they’ve never seen before.
Amid the chaos to come, Alpha Flight reassembles but not in the way you think. This time, the team will be divided into two factions following the events of this year’s Hellfire Gala.
One who work under the Canadian government and another acting outside the law. Basically a Civil War storyline of their own.
New Mutants writer Ed Brisson will pen this upcoming storyline. Speaking about getting to write for Alpha Flight, Brisson explained:
“Like every Canadian kid who grew up reading comics, one of my biggest dreams was to write for Alpha Flight, unfortunately, Sasquatch is currently indisposed, but the opportunity to bring the rest of the team together, even if they’re split and fighting against one another, is an absolute dream come true. And for those of you wondering if I’ve forgotten anyone, rest assured, I haven’t. There are a few surprises for Alpha Flight fans in the mix, but I won’t spoil anything just yet.”
