Zack Snyder Hints At Working With Henry Cavill Again

Zack Snyder was selected by the Russo brothers for a comprehensive interview about his DC epic, Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The two-part discussion will appear on the Russo brothers’ podcast, Pizza Film School. As he continues work on his Netflix science-fiction adventure Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder has taken the time to do online interviews.

Unfortunately, two of his recent YouTube interviews were poorly conducted. One of which omitted his thank you to Warner Bros. Pictures execs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy for allowing the upcoming theatrical screening of ZSJL.

Predictably, the media leeched onto the shorter altered video. On the contrary, that it made seem DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, who rebooted the SnyderVerse, is responsible even though Zack Snyder exclusively gave credit to De Luca and Abdy. Zack Snyder explained:

“The event would not have happened at all…if it wasn’t for Pam and Mike. Those are the guys who said, ‘Yes, we want to do it.’”

So how did Gunn fit into all of this? Snyder specifically stated Snyder-Con wouldn’t have materialized without De Luca and Abdy. Obviously, there are some people who are simply attempting to brown-nose Gunn even if it means distorting footage.

In any case, no one does superhero team-up movies better than Zack Snyder and the Russo brothers. After all, thedirectors have brought us some of the best entries in the genre this past decade or so. The most memorable ones being Man of Steel Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Moreover, both Snyder and the Russos have since gone on to develop multiple projects for Netflix. Joe and Anthony Russo are credited as producers for Chris Hemsworth’s 2020 action thriller Extraction and its upcoming sequel. Joe Russo also served as the writer for both films.

Last year, the brothers directed the long awaited adaptation of The Gray Man for the streaming service. Joe Russo would once again serve as a writer alongside famous duo, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley. The movie featured MCU veteran Chris Evans and Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Goslin in the starring roles.

Furthermore, the Russo brothers also produced the universally acclaimed 2022 comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All at Once. The film would go on to earn 11 nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, winning seven.

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder following his turbulent departure from Warner Bros., was immediately hired by Netflix to direct a new movie. Netflix were aware of Snyder’s strong fan following, so it’s not surprising that they quickly offered him a deal. His post-apocalyptic heist film Army of the Dead came out with huge praise from critics and audiences.

Army of the Dead would be watched by over 75 million households in it’s first 28 days of release. Following Army of the Dead’s global success, Snyder signed a new deal with Netflix to develop a new sci-fi franchise. Rebel Moon hits Netflix on December 22nd with two sequels already confirmed.

Back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Joe and Anthony Russo began their own movie podcast series, Pizza Film School. While everyone was stuck at home, the pair shared their love for some of their favorite movies and local pizzerias. So far the podcast has focused on iconic genre movies like The Empire Strikes Back, The Evil Dead, and more.

The show has also had it’s fair share of special guest stars throughout the past couple of years. Including Markus and McFeely. Mark Hamill has even made an appearance.

For their next two-part episode, the brothers have revealed that they’ll be looking at Zack Snyder’s Justice League. They even suggested viewers to go watch the movie as Snyder himself will be appearing as their next guest.

Making the announcement via their Instagram, the Russo brothers wrote:

“The Russo Bros sat down with Zack Snyder for an extra special episode of #PizzaFilmSchool. Part 1 of the two-part discussion drops Tuesday, April 18th at 12am PT. Make sure you’ve done your homework and watched the Snyder Cut before listening to these directors totally geek out…”

Undoubtedly this wasn’t the Marvel/DC crossover we were expecting but it’s definitely one we’re excited about.

The first part of this special episode arrives on YouTube on April 18th.
