X-Men Movie With Galactus Discussed At Marvel Studios 01

Director Nia DaCosta pitched an X-Men film with Galactus to Marvel Studios. According to a recent interview, The Marvels filmmaker included X-Men members Cyclops and Storm in her proposed movie.

DaCosta revealed:

I just nerded out. I was like, here are the movies I think you should do! Galactus, Storm, and Scott Summers team-up movie!

It’s an odd pairing.

After all, the planet-consuming Galactus has roots in The Fantastic Four.

Writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby co-created Galactus in The Fantastic Four No. 48 in 1966.

Fox’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 introduced Galactus as some sort of cosmic cloud.

Fans trashed his portrayal.

Fox defended the junk and claimed that they’d show Galactus in his entirety in a Silver Surfer solo movie.

However, it never happened.

Instead, Fox hired Chronicle‘s Josh Trank to reboot the franchise in 2015’s Fantastic Four.

It bombed hard and stunk so bad even flies avoided it.

The Fantastic Four cinematic rights reverted back to Disney on March 20, 2019 after their Fox acquisition.

Jon Watts, director of the MCU Spider-Man films, will helm the first one.

DaCosta didn’t explain how the X-Men would meet Galactus in her pitch.

Moreover, it’s unknown what Marvel Studios said about it.

Nevertheless, considering that DaCosta publicity discussed it, the movie was likely turned down.

I scooped in October 2019 that the X-Men and Galactus would be in Secret Wars.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and his crew map character paths years in advance.

DaCosta’s idea probably didn’t fit those plans.

Nevertheless, DaCosta landed an MCU job. DaCosta directs the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels; it’ll be released theatrically on November 11, 2022.

Furthermore, The Marvels echoes the team-up format of her X-Men idea.

The Marvels unites Captain Marvel (Brie Larson); Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris); and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) in a similarly cosmic epic.

It’s doubtful Galactus will appear in that, though.

Aside from Mephisto and Doctor Doom, Galactus is the most anxiously awaited villain in the MCU.

Insiders told me that Galactus won’t debut in the MCU before the second Fantastic Four film.

A source claimed:

Feige wants to build up to Galactus.

Also, this will be the real Galactus in his Kirby-designed magnificence.
