Vanessa Kirby Reportedly Cast As The Invisible Woman

Vanessa Kirby has reportedly signed on to portray Sue Storm A.K.A. The Invisible Woman in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot.

At this point it feels like we’re never going to find out who’ll be cast as the Fantastic Four in the MCU. On top of multiple pushbacks and a change in directors, the ongoing writers and actors strike that’s caused Hollywood to grind to a halt has only delayed the upcoming reboot even further.

Nevertheless, this hasn’t stopped the rumours and reports about who Marvel Studios was in talks with to star as the classic superhero team. Initially, it was suggested that Adam Driver and Margot Robbie were locked in to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm.

Later reports claimed that negotiations between the two stars fell through leaving the lead roles still up for grabs. The new supposed frontrunners for Marvel’s most iconic power couple are Matt Smith and Vanessa Kirby.

Vanessa Kirby is primarily known for her recurring role as Alanna Mitsopolis A.K.A. The White Widow in the Mission Impossible film series. In addition, she was also nominated for Best Leading Actress at the 93rd Academy Awards for her emotional performance in 2020’s Pieces of a Woman.

Kirby portrayed grieving mother Martha Weiss who tragically lost her baby girl to cardiac arrest not long after giving birth. However, the Oscar ultimately went to Frances McDormand for her starring role in Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland in the end.

Nonetheless, Vanessa Kirby has still managed to establish herself as one of the most talented actresses out there. Since the rights to the Fantastic Four reverted back to Marvel Studios, Kirby has been a top pick for the role of Sue Storm in the eyes of fans.

Moreover, the actress herself has even expressed a strong interest in joining the MCU as the Invisible Woman. Now it’s sounding like it could be a done deal as insider Jeff Sneider has recently reported that he’s “95%” sure that Kirby had in fact signed on for the part before the strikes began.

Furthermore, Sneider corroborated previous rumours that Marvel Studios intends build out the remainder of the team around her. Should this turn out to be true, then casting for this long awaited reboot is already off to a fantastic start.
