The Suicide Squad star Idris Elba wants to see his character Bloodsport in a fight against Superman in the DCEU.

Only a few actors have been lucky enough to portray a character in both the MCU and the DCEU. The most notable is legendary British actor Idris Elba who has now portrayed two fan-favorite characters in both franchises. In addition to portraying Heimdall in the MCU, Elba also starred as Bloodsport in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Idris Elba most recently reprised his role as Heimdall for one of Thor: Love And Thunder’s end credit scenes. However, His future as Bloodsport remains up in the air at this time. Especially after the Discovery merger which has led to a big shake up at Warner Bros. and DC.

Nonetheless, Elba remains optimistic that we haven’t seen the last of the deadly assassin. While attending the New York premiere of his newest movie Beast, Variety asked the actor about his DCEU character.

While he didn’t say much, he did tease his hopes for a return. After all, Bloodsport is a free man in the DCEU after blackmailing Amanda Waller for his and the Squad’s release. Moreover, he expressed interest in telling the story of how Bloodsport fought against Superman and put him in the ICU.

Idris Elba told Variety:

I would definitely like to tell the Superman story. There’s no doubt, Bloodsport versus Superman. It needs to happen.

He’s referring to the characters backstory that was revealed in The Suicide Squad by Waller. Viewers were informed that the character was locked up in Belle Reve for shooting Superman with a Kryptonite bullet.

It would be interesting to see a rematch between the two in a possible future project. Maybe in a Bloodsport HBO Max series similar to Peacemaker where the assassin sets out to finish the job.

There’s also a chance they could do something similar in a new Superman movie.

Furthermore, they could also include their first encounter via a flash back setting up what started their rivalry.

There are endless story telling opportunities with DC movies. It’s just a matter of how to tell them.
