The Rock Promises To Give DCEU Fans What They Want

The Rock promises to give DCEU fans what they want. Somehow, it hasn’t fully sunk in. After all, the previous Warner Bros. regime did the opposite. Although they did release Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max, followers had to claw for it.

And former executive Ann Sarnoff followed it up by giving the finger to SnyderVerse followers.

On March 22, 2021, she revealed that WB pulled the plug on the SnyderVerse. As Johnny Rotten once sang, “No future, no future for you.” Sarnoff said:

We wanted to give Zack the opportunity to complete his vision in a four-hour movie, which is impossible to do in theaters. We’re happy that we have HBO Max to let the rope out as it were and allow the fans to see all four-hours of Zack’s vision.

Quite frankly, she sounded like one of those morally uptight teachers that ripped your comics in class. Sarnoff and her cronies didn’t listen to DCEU fans. Specifically, they sidelined Henry Cavill’s Superman and threatened to erase Ben Affleck’s Batman.

Furthermore, they threatened to release projects, such as Hourman and The Wonder Twins, that nobody asked for.

Worse yet, they rolled out the red carpet for J.J. Abrams. And that was after he nearly killed the Star Wars franchise.

Is that what the streets wanted?

On the other hand, the Rock has his ear on fandom. And it begins with Cavill’s Superman.

It’s no secret that the Rock is a fan of Superman, and it’s also no secret that he’s friends with Cavill. As we’ve told you time and time again, The Rock did everything he can to get Cavill back into the Superman suit.

The Rock himself was so excited that he practically leaked Cavill’s appearance in Black Adam. Imagine that, on the premiere day itself. The Rock loves talking about Cavill’s Superman being back in the DCEU.

Cavill’s cameo is short but exciting, nonetheless. For some people who might have lost hope in Cavill returning as Superman, it feels like a redemption. This was long waited for SnyderVerse fans.

In an interview from Entertainment Tonight, they asked the Rock about Cavill and Man of Steel 2. He answered:

Here’s what I can tell you. The whole goal and initiative of Black Adam was to build out the DC universe by introducing not only Black Adam, but the entire [Justice Society of America]. Five new superhero characters in one movie, and also – as I have been saying all along – there’s an ethos we at Seven Bucks have, Seven Bucks Productions. Myself, my co-founder Dany Garcia [Seven Bucks co-founder], and Hiram Garcia [Seven Bucks president of production] and that is we always put the fans first. Audience comes first.

So, for years audiences have been so passionate and vocal about… we’ve established Black Adam as the most powerful and unstoppable force on our planet. But the fans have been so passionate about, as we have been, where’s the most unstoppable force in the universe? Where is he?

Well, just like I fought hard for Black Adam for fifteen years, Dany has been fighting for six years, Hiram has been fighting for six years, for fifteen years, we’ve all been fighting for this moment. So, I will say this: Welcome home.

Well, obviously he had a lot to say about Cavill’s return. It feels like the Rock has been preparing for this moment. And it wasn’t just talk. He brought Cavill home.

For so long Warner Bros. execs didn’t want to pursue Zack Snyder’s vision. In fact, they were trying to make decisions to slowly wipe out the Snyder’s DCEU. Even some of his actors. And people felt this throughout the industry, too.

The Rock battled to keep Snyder’s DCEU. Yet we we see anti-Rock complaints on social media. The SnyderVerse won’t be restored like a downloadable app. The Rock believes in “audience comes first.” It’s a lesson he’s teaching Warner Bros. Discovery.
