Geoff Johns Leads Justice Society of America With Helena Wayne

The Huntress is rumored to have a shocking makeover in her own DCU solo film. In a startling move, it will be a Korean-language movie.

Among DC Comics‘ most underrated characters is Helena Bertinelli, also known as the Huntress.

First appearing in The Huntress No. 1 back in 1989, Bertinelli is the third character to take on the Huntress name. The moniker was originally held by Artemis Crock’s mother Paula Brooks, who later became known as the first Tigress.

It was later passed down to the daughter of Earth-2’s Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle, Helena Wayne.

Before Bertinelli took on the mantle, she was revealed to be the daughter of a Gotham City mafia boss. At the age of 19, she witnessed the murder of both her parents.

She discovers that a hit was put out on them by one of the other Gotham crime families. This leads to her vowing to put an end to organized crime.

Armed with a crossbow and years of combat training, she begins hunting down the entire mob. Eventually she becomes known as the Huntress and joins various other heroes and anti-heroes becoming a member of both the and the Birds Of Prey.

Bertinelli’s version of the Huntress made her DCEU debut in 2020’s Birds Of Prey. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was cast as the crossbow wielding anti-hero.

In addition, she also appeared in a recurring role in the first two seasons of the hit CW series Arrow. She was portrayed by Australian actress Jessica De Gouw.

Nonetheless, much like many established DCEU characters, the Huntress’ future looks uncertain as of right now. With DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn cherry-picking certain actors for his new DC Cinematic Universe, we’re likely looking at another recast.

Moreover, we may now have an idea at what type of actress DC Studios is looking at for the role. According to a new report, a Huntress solo film is in development for the DCU’s second chapter.

Furthermore, it will also be a foreign-language film with the lead character being Korean rather than Italian. The accuracy of this rumor is questionable but fits in with Gunn’s iconoclastic vision.
