The Flash Movie Won’t Kill Ben Affleck’s Batman

The Flash film will not kill Ben Affleck‘s Batman. According to YouTube star Grace Randolph, Ben Affleck’s Batman lives on. Randolph shared the information on her Twitter account. She stated:

I now hear #Batfleck does NOT die in #TheFlash after all. At least not the most recent cut.

If this sounds familiar, I initially scooped this on July 19, 2021. Prior to that, yes, the original plan was to end Ben Affleck’s run on the Batman. In fact, on March 26, 2021, I revealed The Flash would erase the SnyderVerse.

This was nearly a full year before other media outlets reported the same. They didn’t get the memo. Indeed, it was old news to Geekosity readers.

The Flash made numerous script changes. Likewise, the filmmakers may not be done fixing its issues. Warner Bros. just switched The Flash‘s theatrical release dates. The Flash now won’t come out until June 23, 2023. On January 30, I discussed that possibility on YouTube. Watch it here.

The studio claims special effects is the reason for its delay. However, sources indicate The Flash still has problems, too. Certainly, the additional time assists with creative adjustments.

For the record, nobody is doubting the special effects excuse. After all, the pandemic caused all sorts of production problems. But there’s more beneath the surface.

The anti-Snyderverse crowd jumped on Ben Affleck’s rumored demise in The Flash with glee. A number of them questioned Randolph’s credibility in the past but suddenly leapt on her bandwagon. Now that she’s changed her story about Ben Affleck, expect a flip-flop.

But this is Hollywood. Directors tinker with their movies. In regards to Ben Affleck’s Batman future, Randolph added:

I was shocked as well but he seems to have had a change of heart, doesn’t want to close the door entirely.

Some believe that the success of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman could’ve destroyed the potential of Ben Affleck’s return. That isn’t true.

Pattinson’s Dark Knight won’t appear outside director Matt Reeves’ pocket universe.

That’s a problem.

Warner Bros. wants Batman in a future Justice League movie. Who will they get? Michael Keaton? Keaton is 70. He won’t be wearing the costume long. After Batgirl, Keaton will settle into a mentor role.

The ball has always been in Ben Affleck’s court.

Insiders emphasized that Ben Affleck’s death in The Flash wouldn’t work. He’d need to have significant screen time for it to have any emotional power. A source explained:

It wouldn’t make any sense. Ben Affleck shows up for ten minutes and then he dies? Not only would that anger fans, but it’s terrible artistically.

Clearly, Ben Affleck isn’t done with Batman. Flash star Ezra Miller hinted as such in February.
