The Fantastic Four: Emily Blunt No Longer in Talks

Emily Blunt has turned down another MCU role; negotiations have crashed regarding her co-starring in The Fantastic Four film.

According to Small Screen, Emily Blunt wasn’t interested in such an extensive arrangement.

Edward Lauder explained that:

It seems as though she just wasn’t comfortable signing a multiple picture deal with Marvel Studios due to the level of commitment they wanted from her.

On February 20, I reported that “Blunt was disinterested in lengthy contracts.”

Lauder clarified Emily Blunt’s reasons for this:

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have two children together, and our source informed us that Blunt didn’t think it would be a good idea to be moving the family around in order to star in these Marvel movies,.

Both Emily Blunt and her husband  John Krasinski were long rumored to play the Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic in The Fantastic Four movie.

I scooped on February 19 that Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence was being eyed for the Invisible Woman.

While I never said Lawrence was signed, The Daily Mail reported that Lawrence set to film The Fantastic Four in Australia.

That was debunked; however, Marvel Studios’ interest in her wasn’t.

With Emily Blunt out of the picture, the chances of Jennifer Lawrence becoming the Invisible Woman have increased somewhat.

Lauder also provided an update on John Krasinski’s current status on The Fantastic Four.

Lauder’s source revealed that:

Things with Krasinski aren’t so clear. He has been in contact with Marvel for the role of Reed Richards. However, there still haven’t been any new developments. Yet, Blunt turning down the Sue Storm role might be indicative of what could happen with Krasinski. The idea was to have both of them in the movie as Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman.

Fantastic Four director Jon Watts is still finishing Spider-Man: No Way Home so it might be a while before casting decisions are final.
