Taika Waititi is the latest MCU LGBTQ+ hero.
Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) is an LGBTQ+ superhero.
For the MCU, she’s the first.
Thor: Love and Thunder will delve further into her romantic life.
In fact, both Taika Waititi and Thompson are actively pushing for this.
Still, MCU films aren’t exactly known for romantic story lines.
Yes, they do have a presence. However, they’re never the focus.
Thompson explained the challenge isn’t the content.
Rather, it’s the film length.
Taika Waititi To Explore Valkyrie’s Sexuality In Thor: Love And Thunder
She said in an interview:
It’s hard because Taika and I would’ve even liked to go further, but in the context of the movies, there’s only so much we can do. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of time invested in love stories in Marvel movies in general.
Indeed, there have been prominent pairings.
Captain America (Chris Evans) and Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) are probably the most beloved.
Nevertheless, none fit below the LGBTQ+ umbrella.
Taika Waititi and Thompson intend to end that dilemma.
With Thor: Love and Thunder, Valkyrie will get more screen time.
More screen time means more insight to who she is outside a hero.
If you look at the original comics, there are many LGBTQ+ characters.
Moreover, they deserve to have that translated onscreen.
Thompson has not been too humanized despite establishing herself in previous installments.
Outside her hero side, we don’t know much.

What could be in store for Thor’s trusted ally?
We can expect Thor: Love and Thunder to tell us more.
Thompson promised:
I think that will be a little different on the new Thor, which is exciting.
Last time, we reported on her costume design for the upcoming film.
It would be nice to see her grow like the costume she dons.
Who could be her love interest?
Thor: Love and Thunder will probably be the intro to them.
You can count on Taika Waititi for an effective approach to this.
Another thing to be excited is that this will include the Guardians of the Galaxy.
