Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie Sinister Six Likely in the MCU

The Spider-Man spin-off film, The Sinister Six, is likely set in the MCU.

Since Sony released the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, the possibility of a multiverse Sinister Six coming together became stronger.

Spider-Man and Marvel fans got thrilled of this actually happening.

The Sinister Six is a group of Spider-Man villains.

Writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko co-created the Sinister Six for The Amazing Spider-Man Annual No. 1 in January 1964.

The Vulture, Electro, the Sandman, Doctor Octopus, Kraven, and Mysterio comprised the original team.

Through the years members came and went.

Nevertheless, their main purpose didn’t change: kill Spider-Man.

The end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) teased the Sinister Six.

It showed the weapons of several villains.

Moreover, during the credits, it revealed the Rhino and possible references to the Chameleon and Kraven.

At the time, Sony was also in early development for a Sinister Six movie.

Drew Goddard (Netflix’s Daredevil) was set to write it with Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy) to direct it.

Sony announced a release date of November 11, 2016.

However, critics slammed The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It was the only Spider-Man picture to completely tank on Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition, it crashed at the box office.

Its box office sales were way lower than Sony’s expectations.

Consequently, Sony decided to make a deal with Disney and Marvel Studios.

This eventually ended Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

Sony chopped off the planned spin-offs, including The Sinister Six.

Then the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer with several villains blew up online, the tide turned.

Based on a recent report, Sony is still planning The Sinister Six movie.

Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro explained:

Sony’s always kept outside of the new Spider-Man stuff they’re doing with Disney/MCU. With this Venom (the upcoming Let There Be Carnage) they’re actually going to connect to the Spider-Man universe they’re setting up with Disney/MCU. I know one of their long-term goals is to make Sinister Six.

According to Geekosity‘s own sources, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is interested in collaborating with Sony on this project.

Marvel Studios introduced Sinister Six members such as the Vulture, Mysterio, and the Scorpion (as Mac Gargan) in their Spider-Man franchise.

An insider revealed:

Feige isn’t passing the baton to Sony. A chunk of the Sinister Six’s roster already exists in the MCU.

On September 16, Geekosity Editor-In-Chief Mikey Sutton scooped Venom will be the villain in Spider-Man 4.

It’s possible that Venom could join the Sinister Six.

Venom connects with the MCU.

If that’s the case then, do they plan to use any of the multiverse villains from Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Marvel Studios raised the bar uniting the multiverse Spider-Man foes.

We know based on comic-book history that the Sinister Six members change; therefore, there are so many possibilities of who the members can be.

Spider-Man’s universe expands with Marvel Studios in its tangled web.
