Review: Marvel Legends Disney+ Wave 6 Inch Loki Action Figure

Hasbro isn’t fooling anybody with this Disney+ rendition of the God of Mischief, Loki. Check out the Marvel Legends figure from the TV series Loki.

*Possible Spoilers*

After being defeated and captured by the Avengers, Loki is given an unexpected gift in “Endgame.”

The Tesseract quite literally falls at his feet, allowing Loki to escape and begin planning fresh chaos.

His freedom is abruptly interrupted as he is almost immediately taken captive by the Time Variance Authority and transported to a realm outside of the “sacred timeline” where not only does his magic NOT work, but in order to survive, he must help the TVA track down another time variant that has been murdering TVA agents… the twist, this other variant is also Loki.

Loki comes with… nothing for himself. No alternate hands, no alternate heads, not even his trusty daggers.

In fact, Loki’s accessories belong to someone else. Loki comes with the flight stand, Redwing attachment, and wing housing backpack for the Captain America Build A Wing.

So, with that being said, let’s jump right into the review and discuss his aesthetics.

The Marvel Legends Disney+ Wave Loki is actually very sharp. Dressed in shirt, tie, slacks, TVA jacket and sharp black dress shoes, Loki looks more like middle management than God of Mischief.

Ironically, I thought it was a joke when I first saw the figure, given that images were released prior to the show.

Having it in hand though, and seeing the show gives me a greater appreciation and like of the figure.

I carefully inspected the paint apps on the figure and was very impressed with the meticulous attention applied to detail on the figure.

From the snaps and buttons on his jacket, to the stripes on his tie and details on his belt, this Loki is an exceptional work of art.

The photo realistic facial features and sculpted “windswept” hair look evoke Tom Hiddleston from the get go.

I did notice a little bit of white paint scuff on the hair, but was able to safely scrape it off.

The glossy black shoes are done exceptionally well and are sculpted beautifully as are the details to his slacks.

Unfortunately the cuffs of his pants limit the amount of ankle articulation, which we’ll discuss later.

The neck tie is a soft, pliable material and when bending Loki at the diaphragm joint will easily straighten out once he’s stood upright again.

I like the fact that the necktie isn’t a sculpted, painted piece on the chest, but rather a three dimensional piece.

I really like the overall look and am very pleasantly surprised with how well he turned out.

Even the orange TVA logo and “Variant” lettering on the jacket is solid, properly placed, and has no paint defects at all.

This is just a really nice looking figure of Loki based on what is turning out to be a really neat storyline!

The Marvel Legends Disney+ Loki has, exceptional Marvel Legends articulation.

His head is on a ball hinge, giving him excellent downward looking motion and… in spite of the hair sculpt, Loki can look up quite far.

His hair extends just far enough over his jacket collar to permit the range. It turns left and right but has minimal “wobble.”

His shoulders will rotate the full 360 and raise outward to a full “T” pose. Loki has both upper bicep swivel, and double jointed elbows which bend in well beyond 90 degrees.

His wrists will hinge and pivot and the hands are molded nicely for holding… well, stuff, I suppose.

He doesn’t come with anything to hold, so you’ll just have to give him whatever your heart desires.

He has a forward/backward diaphragm crunch, but the back movement is limited because of his coat. His waist swivels and his ability to do splits is as good as the Vision figure!

His upper thigh cut works well, the knees are double jointed with a great deal of bend to them and his angles will hinge slightly forward and back, thanks to the limits imposed by the sculpting of his pants cuffs.

The ankles also have a forward facing pin, giving him plenty of rocker motion.

Sadly though, as with two other figures in this wave, the trouble with the ankles does make it difficult to get Loki standing upright.

Dynamic poses are a little easier, but again, the limited ankle movement does hinder Loki standing upright reasonably easy.

In spite of the difficulties getting him to stand, I’m still very happy with the figure. At the price point of around $20, Loki is well worth picking up for your MCU Disney+ display.

I really wanted to give Loki a great score, but having him constantly tipping over causes his rating to also tip over.

Loki earns 3.5 toyboxes out of 5. You can find your own Disney+ Wave Legends figures at the Big Bad Toy Store.
