Report: Henry Cavill Signs On For Justice League 2

Henry Cavill has reportedly signed on for Justice League 2. Per Giant Freakin Robot, Warner Bros. Discovery included Justice League 2 in Henry Cavill’s new contract. Moreover, GFR adds that the sequels to Black Adam and Man of Steel fill out Cavill’s agreement. Given that Cavill just exited Netflix’ The Witcher, this makes sense.

After all, it’s doubtful that Cavill would’ve departed from The Witcher without anything solid.

In addition, this deal sounds similar to my report on Ben Affleck. On October 24, I scooped that Affleck’s latest contract included three Batman solo movies. Nevertheless, there are some major differences. Sources told me his agreement attached a fourth film, which is a guest appearance. Furthermore, there’s no mention of Justice League 2. At least, not yet.

Insiders explained that Affleck might be cautious after Joss Whedon’s disastrous Justice League flop. Affleck wants to feel secure that he won’t repeat that experience. Although the old regime is gone, you certainly can’t blame him.

In other words, there’s nothing to be concerned about. Granted, there are lingering fears of Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight replacing Affleck’s. However, that’s a ghost from the previous Warner Bros. leadership. To WBD CEO David Zaslav, the Trinity consists of Cavill, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and Affleck.

Keaton isn’t in that picture.

GFR even unveiled the planned release date for Man of Steel 2. They stated:

Of the three films, arguably most significant is the news regarding Man of Steel 2. This will mean Henry Cavill’s first appearance as Superman as the sole male lead since 2013’s Man of Steel. Considering there’s been no official word about production or a release date, the flick will almost certainly not arrive until 2024 at the earliest; making the sequel Cavill’s first time as Superman in a solo film in over a decade.

Sources began telling me that WBD aims for December 2024 about a year ago. After all, Superman is beautiful on Christmas. Nonetheless, this isn’t set in stone. Indeed, look at the shifting release dates of The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

On the other hand, James Gunn’s DC Studios promises a more focused approach. Although no company is perfect, I doubt DC Studios would make such mistakes.
