Insomniac Games is developing two new Marvel exclusives for the PlayStation, namely Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.
The PlayStation Showcase just ended and showed a good number of games, like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Alan Wake Remaster, Deathloop, God of War Ragnarök and more.
While there are a number of firsts in the Sony’s showcase which did get us excited, we got especially interested with the announcement of the Spider-Man sequel and Wolverine.
Spider-Man alone was amazing in itself since I am a fan of the game.
And we were surprised with the announcement of a solo game with Wolverine as the main lead. Both titles are being developed by Insomniac Games.
It looks like Marvel is really putting their gaming line up in high gear.
Spider-Man 2 is a sequel to the popular Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man Miles Morales (2020) made by the same developer.
The original game was considered to be one of the best super hero related games as of recent.
It’s so good that it’s more or less as good as Batman Arkham City (2011) made by Rocksteady Studios.
The open city of New York, being able to swing and move around like Spider-Man made you feel like you were there.
The action, the story was engaging that people wanted more.
The only issue between the original game and Miles Morales is the length of time.
Spider-Man Miles Morales was shorter by half the time you spend on the original Spider-Man.
But regardless of the length of time to play, it was an experience for every gamer to cherish playing.
Since Insomniac only showed a teaser trailer and no actual gameplay, we do presume that the basic mechanics will still be there, but we wonder how it will be pushed to make the game feel fresh.
The story seems to include both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and the main villain this time is Eddie Brock, aka Venom.
New Marvel Games PlayStation Exclusives: Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine
Wolverine on the other hand is a completely new game.
The trailer that Insomniac Games showed in the PlayStation Showcase was only a prerendered scene, which only teased the appearance of the main character.
There is also an interesting Easter egg in the trailer, it has an eye patch laid on the bar table.
In the comics, Wolverine wore an eyepatch to hide his identity while he was on Mandipoor while dealing with criminal underworld.
So, this eyepatch might be a clue to the setting of the game and it does make sense that he is alone for this adventure.
But, at this time, we have no idea what to expect with the gameplay.
Insomniac games have done a lot of projects that are fun and exciting like the recently released action platformer Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart (2021), Microsoft exclusive open world Sunset Overdrive (2014), and the first-person shooter Resistance (2006).
So, right know, we can only guess what Insomniac Games will offer for the popular X-Men character.
For now, the game was only teased, and we don’t know when the game will be released.
In other words, the game is still in the very early stages of development.
With Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy coming out this October 2021 and 2K Games’ Midnight Suns coming in March 2022.
The Marvel Gamerverse is getting more interesting every year.
