Metroid’s Samus Aran Not In Fortnite

Metroid’s Samus Aran is not going to be in Fortnite.

Epic Games’ Fortnite is among the most successful online multiplayer battle royale games in recent history; moreover, it’s the only one to get as many characters in one game.

These include characters from fictional heroes and real-life celebrities like DC and Marvel heroes; GhostbustersStar Wars; Stranger Things, and John Wick.

Fortnite created promotion for non game-related marketing by doing in-game events for Tenet.

Furthermore, they even live-streamed within the game movies like Inception, Batman Begins and The Prestige.

In addition, the popular Korean Pop group BTS premiered their music video in the game.

Epic Games hasn’t slowed down with getting several properties into the game.

Fortnite’s Chapter Two Season Seven introduced Superman (DC Comics) and Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty).

The most difficult thing to get is actually Nintendo’s popular characters.

Nintendo was never easy to talk to in terms of getting their characters into other games.

Usually, they prefer it the other way around like getting other game characters into Super Smash Bros or Mario having Ubisoft’s Raving Rabbids in a turn-based game.

Nintendo Switch published it exclusively.

It was rumored that Samus Aran from the Metroid series was planned to be added in Fortnite.

Some internal documents from the Epic Games v Apple trial first revealed it. We know that negotiations were actually there with Nintendo.

Recently, Fortnite leaker news Shiina revealed the truth.

He Tweeted that:

Sources tell me that a Metroid (Samus Aran) collaboration will not happen next season.  Apparently, Epic wasn’t able to obtain the rights to put her in the game.

It was even rumored that Samus would show up in Chapter Two, Season Six. Fortnite just started Chapter Two, Season Seven.

However, there is no Samus Aran in sight.

Nevertheless, even if the negotiations were moving along, Nintendo doesn’t like early leaks.

It was even said that Netflix was negotiating with Nintendo to work on a Legend of Zelda animated series, but as soon as the rumor broke out, Nintendo backed out of the discussions.

Thus, the planned series was cancelled.

Samus Aran would have been the first Nintendo character that would have joined the cast of Fortnite and could have given way for others to show up too.

Metroid (1986) on the Nintendo Entertainment System (Nintendo Famicom in Japan) made a mark by introducing one of the most popular female characters in gaming history.

It also was the first game to use interconnected levels in which you have to go back and forth in order to unlock items and locations.

The genre was popularized by Castlevania Symphony of the Night (1997).

Now we call the genre “MetroidVania.” Metroid has spanned into its own franchise exclusive to Nintendo consoles with several games.

Its main protagonist, Samus Aran was also added into the Super Smash Bros roster of fighters, and her armor was featured in Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate as a DLC.

There is still hope though since Epic Games will not back out easily trying to get this iconic character into the game, or it’s possible that they will try to get another Nintendo character instead.

I am still looking forward to seeing Samus Aran in Fortnite sometime soon.
