It has been reported that Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has been added to MCU by Marvel Studios.

Finn Wolfhard is well known for his role in the Netflix show Stranger Things. He’s also landed roles in the Addams Family, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and It. Not only has Finn Wolfhard been busy in film, Wolfhard also performs in his band The Aubreys, and has directed the short film Night Shifts.

There is no question that Finn Wolfhard is a rising star. He’s already working on two films which are Pinocchio and The Legend of Ochi.

The report has said that Finn Wolfhard is already signed and ready to start. The star is already signed up for the animated series NEW-GEN as one of the lead characters.

Even though NEW-GEN is printed and published by Marvel Comics, this is not part of the Marvel Universe.

NEW-GEN is owned by A.P.N.G. Enterprises.

So, if Finn Wolfhard is now in the MCU, then it means that this isn’t related to NEW-GEN in any way.

At this time, there is no confirmation what role he will be doing or how many films or even TV shows he is contracted to do.

Back in 2019, he said to ComicBook.com that he would like to play:

I would like to play ‘Guy on Computer’ in the background of a Marvel movie.

With the popularity of Finn Wolfhard, it would be a stretch that he would be a ‘guy on computer’ in the MCU.

However, stranger things have happened.

But, Marvel has been getting younger actors mainly because they want them to stay in the franchise longer. Marvel has been introducing young new heroes and characters into the mix, slowly passing the torch from the original Avengers.

Note that Tom Holland was 19 when he started being Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.

Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld is there to take Clint Barton’s place as Hawkeye. Ms. Marvel played by Iman Vellani is another young actress who is set to be the star in an upcoming series coming mid 2022, and is part of the Marvels with Brie Larson.

Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh is already taking on the Black Widow mantle after Scarlet Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff.  Riri Williams is Ironheart in the new series being developed by Marvel which stars Dominique Thorne.

These are all young actors and are pretty much set up to be in the MCU for the long haul.

So, with Finn Wolfhard’s age, it’s not a surprise that Marvel may be polishing him to be a mainstay in the MCU.
